Fucked up arms and vains

What should I do for best get my vains heal? They have become rockhard and big. Like as they were really swollen. Offcourse they are because I'm injecting amphemin in them but now it's worse then usual.. Both of them.

And just don't say stop inject... I know that it would be the best but it ain't an option...

Re: Fucked up arms and vains

First off, you didnt do anything or need help with anything. SWIM does.

To SWIY I would say this, and Im saying this as a licensed health care professional.

SWIY: I know you dont want to hear stop doing it, but you have to. Thats the only way to get your veins to heal. You keep poking them, they are going to get worse, harden and if you have a small clot it could clog your arteries and you could have a heart attack, the clot could break and cause a stroke etc.

Ill reiterate. The only wayt to get your veins to heal, if they arent beyond healing at this point, is to stop injeecting. Where are the injection sites at? If you absolutely must inject (and no you do not have to) have you tried the alternative sites such as in between your toes.

SWIM has never injected but has seen a lot of this in his job. Listen, if SWIY wants to get better you have to stop. There are no alternatives, despite what you may want. I know its not what you want to hear (and rarely will here unless it actually is one of the last options) but it has to happen.

If you need anymore medical advice, feel more than free to ask.

Red face Re: Fucked up arms and vains

i read your thread and feel for you i can see the agony you'll no doubt put yourself through in search of the nxt hit but its seems to be slipping further away every time you try for your dig.

BASTARD...BITCH int it

ive been takin speed for 15 years or so but never injected but my partner has for 13 years now and now has the same problem as you. there's no longer a high cos thats taken over by the trauma of trying to get the hit.
TommyRowe gives sound advice i dont know no one who's gone between there toes but i'm sure my other half will check it out tho. keep us posted and we'll do same. also stay away from your knuckles and ankles if you miss you'll not be walking for weeks.

take care

Re: Fucked up arms and vains

The ones who go between the toes (and other places) are what we call blue collar junkies. They are going out of their way to hide their habits via placing them in spots where the track marks dont normally show up to the public. Other places are behind the knees (takes talent) and Ive even heard of shooting into the tear ducts... sounds painful to me.

be careful with what you advocate, someone may attempt to shoot in tear ducts based solely on this post.

Re: Fucked up arms and vains

Red Rock highly recommends that if SWIY doesn't want to stop injecting, then to at least find a new vein and rotate the spots that SWIY injects in. This will help greatly reduce the damage done to the vein. If SWIY needs help on finding new locations to IV, some searching on DF might turn up some results. If Red Rock remembers correctly, there is one regarding heroin and where the veins are but the title of the thread is escaping him at this moment

Tommyrowe,

PLEASE STOP TELLING EVERYONE YOU'RE A MEDICAL EXPERT IF YOU CANNOT STICK TO THE KNOWLEDGE YOU WERE *SPECIFICALLY* TRAINED IN!!!

There is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL that a clot can travel from a vein to an artery!! in other words, there is NO WAY that you could get a heart attack OR stroke in the way you describe!

An expert would know there's only ONE way this could EVER be even remotely possible... the person would have a HOLE in their heart known as an atrio/ventricular-defect aka a patent foramen ovale... and even then, the chances are very VERY slim.

I've asked you before Tommy to PLEASE (kindly) check your information with a quick internet search or read a journal before you state wild medical "facts." Just because you took a course doesn't mean that your memory is 100% accurate. The advice you type here is forever preserved--right or wrong.

girl_on_speed, to answer your question,
there is a risk of permanent damage to the vein. If you screw up all or most of the veins in any given extremity, then you run a good risk of acquiring permanent 'lymphedema' of that extremity.

In other words, you won't have any veins to carry the blood back to your heart from that arm. When this happens, your arm will depend on your lymphatic vessels to carry the fluid back to your heart.

translation
: if you 'burn up' the veins in that arm, you'll end up with a constantly swollen, heavy, painful arm that is constantly "fat" with fluid buildup. this will NEVER get better. There is no surgery and no cure.

In regard to what Tommyrowe said about the clots clogging your arteries, don't worry about this. It is not true. NEVER believe ANYTHING you read on the internet claiming to be from a "Medical Professional", lol!!

The only thing that could happen if a clot or anything became "dislodged" from a vein would be a pulmonary embolism... assuming you're otherwise healthy, a PE would most likely be surviveable from a venous clot in your arm. HOWEVER, that doesn't necessarily apply to large leg veins. It is possible that a clot traveling up from a large leg vein could lodge in your heart/pulmonary arteries/lungs and kill you.

best advice would be to stop injecting or choose another vein. -DICK
