Smoking - 'smoking' alcohol

This is something swim tried afew years back. He'd acquired a bottle of 90% neutral spirit on a recent trip to cyprus, and as an experiment he dipped a hand-rolled cigarette into it. He then left this to dry overnight and lit it up the next day.

He reports that this was an amazing rush! Very disorienting and intoxicating for about 5 minutes, after which there was a swift return to baseline.

I cant say I'm sure of the chemistry behind it. I would have thought that the alcohol would have been destroyed by lighting, but apparently not - perhaps some is destroyed, but some just vapourises. Swim figured that it would need to mostly dry out, as if lit when wet it would burn to vigorously to be smoked.

And yes, swim is often quite fond of his random experimentation . He reports that it was an enjoyable enough experience, but he hasn't repeated it. Though maybe he'll try combining it with cannabis.
