Tapering off opiates
SWIM is tapering off of opiates after being on them for only one month-pathetic, but needs support nontheless. Here is SWIM'S story; SWIM suffers panic attacks and was taking zoloft/seroquel from psychiatrist. These were not working anymore, SWIM knew that opiates would work. So SWIM began to take opiates and muscle relaxers early december, and used this opportunity to get off of the zoloft/seroquel. Now SWIM has to take too many opiates, it doesn't feel as good, physical problems are starting to surface. SWIM had many physical problems from psychiatric medication, but dr. just wanted to add more medication. SWIM is sick of these meds, feeling listless and zombeish all the time, and has to drink coffee to even get around in the morning. SWIM is now tapering the opiates, cutting out 90% of the coffee, and will find another way to deal with the panic. SWIM is tired of AA/NA telling them to pray away the panic, tired of being told to go to meetings every day, tired of being told their mind is diseased and there is nothing normal about them, and they are not clean if they are taking psychiatric meds. SWIM will not go to any more meetings. Maybe SWIM will try CBT this time. There are other answers out there, they have to be sought. Some withdrawal is setting in for SWIM, but it is not too bad yet.
