Flasks for alcohol

hey guys, this may sound like a stupid topic but i have always had
interests in flasks. How many of you guys have a flask, do you
use it, and if you want, post a pic. I will post one of mine once
i find one on the net of it because i dont have a digi camera. If
this is too stupid just delete it, just thought it would generage some
interesting convorsation.

i have a flask, its a standard silver flask, with "jack daniels old no. 7" engraved on it. holds 7oz i believe. i also have a mini one that is exactly the same just holds 1 or 2oz i believe..it can clip onto your keyring.

i never really use it, unless i go camping or on a long weekend, i don't really feel a need to carry a flask around with me.

i think this is an interesting topic, i'd like to hear about a couple other peoples flasks.

I have a 6oz with an eagle on the side of it. Flasks were popular in the time of prohibition because they were easy to conceal. I think they are cool, my girlfriend got me this one for christmas a couple years ago and i have had others in the past. I like to take them to weddings or special occasions when im wearing my suit and i put it on the inside pocket of the jacket. They are kinda neat for those occasions when your at the table or in the parking lot to pull it out and pass it around or spike drinks with it. I like my flasklol

i like to keep it full, ill bring it to parties and stuff, good
convorsation peice. Ive seen some nice ones on the net with cigar
holders on them and cig cases. Good for cruisin with buddies,
keeps you from getting to slammed while driving and is
convinient. Next on my list of things to get, cig case and
a blazer or jacket with a pocket inside where people normally put
flasks. Would be a cool kinda thing to collect, already have a
knife collection, flasks would be cool too. Keep em comin fellas

i use my flask mainly for sipping and maybe some bigger sips throughout my night. But if you are exclusivly drinking from your flask and having no shots or anything, a high proof liquor like 151 might fit your fancy. I usually just put a good whiskey or rum in my flask like jack, jim, or captain morgan. Putting a shitty liquor in a flask seams pointless in my opinion. You flask is not meant to get you hammered, but to allow you to get drunk on other such alcohols while still being able to sip something that tastes good. Just my opinion though.

Stainless Steel Flasks

Swim has read that stainless steel flasks can impart a metallic flavor to the contents. Does anyone know how long this takes? They have some nice whiskey in a cheap flask with no liner, and if it does not take very long to contaminate the flavor they will pour it back into the bottle.

Of course Swim could just drink it but they have been dehydrated of late.

thanks.

Where did swiy read this?

I haven't heard anything about that and have friends who use numerous flasks and sometimes store alcohol in the flasks with no problem. The thing is, I don't know if they are stainless steel or not.

Wikipedia is a good source but all info from it should be treated with caution. SWIM has personally never heard of a leaching of flavour and has never experienced it himself allthough thats not saying that it isnt possible. It might occur after very long periods of time in a very cheap flask and so SWIM advises to pour it back in the bottle just in case, or is there a special reason for keeping the drink in the flask?

good point prescription, as always! wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and consequently any manner of info can appear on there, even if wikipedia is normally a great resource. swim uses a stainless steel flask and had never had any metallic flavor in his drinks. but like prescription says, best to just pour the liquor back into the bottle and wash the flask carefully after use!

Swim wasn't sure if it was correct, hence the question.

It's in the flask because there wasn't much left in the bottle and it's a bit odd to be seen with a handle in public. Swim'll probably leave it in the flask since they'll finish it off soon, they hope.

SWIM uses a metal flask all the time. He has left alcohol in it for weeks at a time without noticing any metallic taste once ingested. I think you'll be ok and are worrying about nothing! =)
