Opiates and REM sleep?

I have been researching REM sleep patterns and the sections of the brain responsible/affected. And also how opiates block or effect the ability to achieve wave 4 sleep or simply dream state. SWIM is trying to better understand what is happening with his opiate damaged brain.lol Why I cannot sleep properly since SWIM had taken Methastone for 9 months. I believe I have a serious sleep disorder now and it's been almost 3 months since SWImy last dose of done and am almost 1 month totally clean now.
Any info you guys can give is welcome..
