Cannabis factory found after fire... and another one...and another one

7th January 2009

Police have discovered a cannabis factory after attending a fire in a flat in Glasgow.

Officers were called to the property in Chirnside Road, Hillington, at about 1810 GMT on Monday.

On entering the flat they found about 100 plants with an estimated street vale of £30,000.

Police said it appeared that the blaze had been caused by an electrical fault due to the flat being used as a cannabis factory

Enfield cannabis factory burns down

AN Enfield house being used as a cannabis factory went up in smoke on New Year’s Day.

Firefighters from Enfield and Edmonton were called to Bideford Road at 5am on Thursday morning following an emergency phone call from terrified neighbours.

The fire ripped through the entire first floor of the empty property where "hundreds" of cannabis plants were being grown, according to one firefighter at the scene.

It also spread to a neighbouring home and caused a small amount damage, he added. No injuries have been reported.

Specialist heating devices were found at the property and the electricity supply had been rigged for the cultivation of the Class B drug, Enfield Police confirmed.

The owners of the property have not yet been identified and enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made. Kate Kevins, 14, of Bideford Road, said: “My mum shouted there was a fire so I woke up and looked out the window. People were outside and there was four fire engines. The house was really burning. “It was exciting but scary at the same time. Our fears were that someone might have been in there. We had no idea about the cannabis.”

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “In November, someone from Enfield Council visited to ask if I knew anything about the people that were living there. I didn’t have a clue. I work shifts and never really saw who it was that was coming and going.

“I did see a young man a few times. He drove an Audi TT. I was shocked when the firemen told me the house was being used for drugs. It just shows what can happen practically on your doorstep.”

Cannabis factory in attic of blaze home

FIREFIGHTERS called out to a house blaze in Sheffield discovered a cannabis factory in the attic...and an eight foot snake downstairs.
Crews called out to the property on Dryden Road, Southey Green, found a fierce fire with flames shooting out of the ground floor windows at the front and back of the house.

They extinguished the blaze and found cannabis plants in the attic as they checked to see if anyone was in the house.

And on a final inspection they then discovered an eight-foot snake slithering around the lounge.

A police investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze, with the possibilty of arson as one line of enquiry.

In November a 38-year-old man was shot in the chest at the same house but escaped with just a superficial wound.

He was taken to hospital after the attack but was later discharged.

Police are looking at both incidents and keeping an 'open mind' about possible links.

A neighbour said: "I see a man coming to and from the house every day and there was always a light on during the night so I had my suspicions about what the house was being used for because it didn't seem as though anyone lived there permanently.

"For the fire to have come so soon after the shooting makes you think that the house was firebombed.

"I suppose these are the kind of things you get where drugs are concerned.

"It's worrying that we have these characters on our street."

Acting Det Insp David Mayfield said: "Luckily no one was inside the property at the time of the incident. During a search of the premises a number of what are believed to be cannabis plants and other items related to drug activity were found inside.

"Officers have conducted a number of enquiries in the area, and further enquiries continue."

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or anyone with information, should contact ADI David Mayfield, at Ecclesfield CID on 0114 296 4633 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Cannabis factory was rumbled by firefighters

A Gloucestershire man's cannabis-growing operation was discovered when fire broke out in one of his greenhouses, a court heard.

Robert Benkerstein's profitable four-year enterprise, which had financed a luxury lifestyle, went up in smoke when firefighters arrived and saw the burning cannabis plants.

They called police and Benkenstein and his partner, Joanna Whiting, were arrested, Gloucester crown court heard.

The court was told that Benkenstein had banked £73,410 in cash during three years of running the drug factory in a barn in his grounds.

At the time of the fire, he said, there were 530 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.

Benkenstein, of Severn House, Epney, was jailed for three years seven months after he admitted producing herbal cannabis and supplying a controlled drug.

His partner, who admitted permitting premises to be used for the production of cannabis, was given a six months sentence suspended for two years and placed under a 3 months 9pm-6am curfew.

A fire department found more than just flames during a fire at a warehouse on Monday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the Aldine Fire Department put out an electrical fire at a warehouse in the 15300 block of Chaplin Street at about 2 p.m.

Firefighters told a man with keys to the property that they needed to get into a mechanical bay to make sure there was no fire inside. The man was reluctant to open the doors, officials said.

Crews went inside and found 200 marijuana plants being grown in a greenhouse setup, officials said. Deputies said the setup included special grow lighting on the ceiling, special insulation, heating and an internal irrigation system.

Detectives estimated the street value of the drugs to be $6,000 to $10,000.
....

Is this some kind of new hip thing to burn down the marijuana factories ?
Anyway, there is more but i will not start to post then here

For some reason this come to my mind: Another one bites the dust (youtube)

Waffa added 10 Minutes and 3 Seconds later...

... for some reason Pinocchio can imagine DEA singing:

Machine guns ready to go
Are you ready, are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, Im gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

& other side:

How do you think Im going to get along,
Without you, when youre gone
You took me for everything that I had,
And kicked me out on my own (i shall replace this with "out from my home" )

Are you happy, are you satisfied
How long can you stand the heat

There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When hes down

i think Pinocchio can make some kind of animation out of this, he just needs something for inspiration ... OR he should stop thinking retarted thoughts and go back to work
