Video - Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone
A new entry has been added to File Archive
Description: This is a video I created. It was on YouTube but was removed because they want people to use "their" music and I refused to change my music. I gave credit where credit was due in the video so it is now on Vimeo as well as my website. It reveals many of the myths MMT patients face regarding their treatment. Enjoy! ![]() To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone The comments you make there will appear in the posts below. |

Re: Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone
Comment:
This is a fantastic video. Thank you for making it and posting it. It states many facts and addresses many of the myths associated with methadone. The choice of songs was meaningful as well. From Stevie Nicks "Landslide" into Nickelback's "If Everyone Cared", emphasized the transition from 'disaster' to 'life'. Again... Excellent video and a fine contribution to the video archive. ![]() To check this out, and rate it or add your own comments, visit Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone. In a Way i don`t like that Video, for me it sounds like someone want to sell something. All the answered questions are not right, hmmm-they are right but not answered the original question, eg. is Methadone safe for breastfeeding Mothers, is Methadone safe for HIV.-Patient, etc.! No, no points for this Video ![]() To check this out, and rate it or add your own comments, visit Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone. Re: Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone
Comment:
I had a visceral dislike of this video. Spucky says it well when he talks of the video wanting to sell me something. I think the product this video wants to sell is acceptance, which in itself is no bad thing. I have no problem whatsoever with people using MMT to try to improve their quality of life. Maybe I am "old school" but the idea of saying that one is addicted to heroin and merely dependent on methadone sticks in the throat. It's not that I don't understand what's being said, or even agree, it's just that it is a very politically correct way of looking at things. I think if the purpose of this video is to rehabilitate (pardon the pun) methadone then skirting over the number of deaths from methadone is not the way to go. One elephant sleeping pill may kill (a human) but it doesn't mean we should ban elephant sleeping pills. Personally, owning a cat who who's experience of MMT was of escalating doses and a generally poor quality of life, I admit I am somewhat predisposed to be sceptical or at least questioning of those who claim to have got their lives back by taking methadone. This is not simply personal experience, I've come across few (well none if you exclude those on DF) who are truly happy with being on methadone. The case could be made that a diabetic is not truly happy with having to inject insulin but it is a necessary evil. Ah....I can justify why I didn't much care for this video, but you could probably pick all my objections to pieces and I'd still not like it. Yes. The difference in quality in my cat's life being abstinent from everything and from being on methadone is almost certainly the reason. The lesson for me is perhaps to accept the cliché "horses for courses". But to those who claim to be truly happy on MMT, I look into your eyes smiling and ask "are you?". I leave it at that except to say I applaud the idea of rehabilitating MMT, I'd just go about it a little differently. Re: Video - Finding Normal: The Truth About Methadone
My hamster commented on this video during a time of emotional turbulence due to opioid withdrawal. He has since watched it again and knows where Spucky and Dickon are coming from as far as the video trying to sell its point of view, as well as a few other things. He still stands by his original comment of it being an excellent contribution to the archive (especially since it was actually produced by Finding Normal).
During the time my hamster watched this video the first time, he found himself crying over television commercials with babies, animals, and people in love in them. When he was in this condition, he tried to post as little as possible. In fact, he didn't even realize his comment would show up in the Opioid A&R forum. |
