Need Some Valerian Advice
Alright, so swim's mother recommended swim some valerian to help with swim's mild insomnia. So far it's working good for swim. He bought a bottle of 100 caps, 125 mg valerian each at a local organic vegetable and herb store. He takes about 250 mg in pill form when he can't sleep.
Now swim has recently become aware of potential for psychoactivity in it, whether it be vivid dreams or mild psilocybin-like experiences. But how much would swim have to take, and would it be better to fall asleep and dream, or try and stay awake? Thanks in advance for helping swim out, he's a newbie to most drugs, legal or not, and always educates himself before taking any substance, once again, legal or not. |

Re: Need Some Valerian Advice
Y takes valerian, and to Y it feels more like valium than shrooms.
Apparently when first taking it, it can feel a bit odd, but Y cannot remember, as he was feeling a bit odd anyway, when he first embarked on valerian, due to speed pscyhosis episodes. To sum up Y would say Valerian is like herbal valium, although the two are not related, even though they sound similar. Y tends to go for the tincture over the tablets, seems to work better for him. heres the wiki on valerian. |

Re: Need Some Valerian Advice
SWIM finds that though it is psychoactive there is really nothing more to it than mild relaxation, and anxiolytic properties. It works well as a sleep aid especially when combined with Passion Flower and/or Melatonin.
If one is looking for a mild relaxing sleep aid or a mild anxiolytic, Valerian can be quite useful. If one expects a buzz or anything more from it, they would be expecting too much and most likely miss the beauty of it. It doesn't pack a buzz in any way, shape, or form. It won't get one high. So if this is what one is looking for then Valerian would not be for them. Even at a couple of Grams it will not produce a buzz. In SWIM's experience he has found almost no difference between 350 mg's and 3 Grams. It tends to do the same thing and it seems as though the strength of it does not increase with higher doses. Hope this helps some. |

Re: Need Some Valerian Advice
Swim finds that Valerian effects everyone differently. All of swims friends say it makes them drowsy-swim gets transported to a new mind state. Swiy will have to personally see what it does. If swiy is going to feel anything beyond relaxation, he will perceive it at a dose as low as 500mg.

Re: Need Some Valerian Advice
SWSBMBIBIGB has taken Valerian in the past and it is a very effective sleep aid. SWSBMBIBIGB takes around 5-10 grams and then enters a state of half awake/half asleep...where SWSBMBIBIGB dreams but does not actually sleep...difficult to explain. SWSBMBIBIGB has made a tintcure out of 20 1650mg capsules. SWSBMBIBIGB noticed some interesting and mildly psycedelic effects.

Re: Need Some Valerian Advice
5-10 grams?
Damn, swim would probably prefer to crush all those pills up and throw the powder in a drink, because so much pills would be uncomfortable to swallow for swim. How about insufflation, would it require a lower dose, or a whole lot of snorting? |
