Comparative withdrawals

Swim has been taking 40 to 80 mg of Oxy in Percs for he past 3 years via prescription. It was a nice trip but now it has taken over Swim's life, becoming the center of his thoughts and activities. Swim wants to withdraw but he has heard and read so many horror tales about the process that he is afraid to do it. Is withdrawal from Oxy's milder or worse than "stronger" opiates? Any input is wlcome as this is a critical issue for Swim.
