Re: Meth isn't that bad - nor addictive

If one reads between the lines, most of these posts are about use or abuse. Smoking meth is akin to smoking crack. I.V.ing, well, lets call that a given along with 3-5 day binges.
Oral meth use, like adderall or dexedrine, can continue for decades, if you can stop with ~50-80mgs. a day. My cat is scripted 60mg. adderall per day for a long time, and her shrink feels she will be on it all her life. Prior she self medicated with many stimulants, including fish scale meth that 7 grams lasted her about a year. Meth is about twice as strong as most legal amines, and if you dose accordingly, as in don't do 7 grams in a week and crash and burn its, well, no big deal.
If you know you will abuse it, don't use it. I can't smoke tobacco. If I could smoke 3 or 4 a day I would still smoke. The fact I have to have a nicotine bump every 20 minutes or so will keep me from ever smoking again, or ever use any drug I don't have the self disipline to control. But I don't blame the drug. Nicotine has wonderfull effects. Calms you if your nervous, keeps you alert if your tired. Helps you concentrate, etc. but I can't stop with a few a day. But I blame me, not the drug. I would kill myself if I had not put it down. You can drink a gallon of milk too fast and kill yourself ...

Re: Meth isn't that bad - nor addictive

SWIM has seen friends go down the path and not come back.

It starts with a few rails. And that's fine. It ramps up from there, and then at some point, months or years or weeks later...but at some point, someone says, "you know, if we smoke it, it's a lot stronger and we'd use a lot less" - and then they start smoking it.

And that's where it goes wrong.

For whatever reason - the trigger for all of the people who SWIM has seen go bad on meth has been when they started smoking it. SWIM knows plenty of people who stuck to snorting meth, and grew beyond it and moved on with their lives. But SWIM's friends who took to smoking it? It took a while, a months...but that was the slippery slope that most people couldn't climb back up.

And none of them thought they were the problem. Meth makes you feel like you're on top. You're smarter, better, more in tune than anyone. Paranoia sets in - people are against you - they don't want you to be happy, they're jealous, they're weak. The tolerance builds faster with smoking, and so you're always fiending a little- and maybe you start shooting it. But by that point -you don't really need to. You're in a different world...one where you're not addicted - other people are just out to get you.

SWIM has seen it happen. He's seen good people, strong people, go down. Marriages got destroyed. Dogs got abandoned.

The lie that meth will tell you is that you can stop for a while. But why should you?

In SWIM's opinion - a little bit of speed never hurt anyone - but a habit is easy to form and hard to recognize for what it is from inside the cloud of acrid smoke.

Anti-Drug propaganda is one thing - but if the message on a board like this is "tread lightly" - then ignoring that advice, thinking you're stronger or better or less prone to falling...That just seems like SWIY is being stubborn because they like the high.

Good luck.

Swim agrees. When she started smoking it, she really started having issues with addiction even worse that when she railed it. The mental cravings seem more intense. Would swiy agree?

Re: Meth isn't that bad - nor addictive

***I=swim

I smoked meth a few times, small 1.5 day binges, about .200mg-.300mg per session. i didnt find the comedown to be bad at all. though, The next few days i craved meth like a motherfucker, i would say opiate withdrawls aint got shit on crystal meth, with opiates your body fiends it, but with meth i find your mind craves it, your mind tells you repeatedly to smoke it and orchestrates situations where you will be around crystal meth.

After my small binges i had to take a percocet every hour to keep my mind off crystal meth and from relapsing, for a few days it called my name all day everyday for a while then went away. i knew it was addictive and can ruin lives if abused so i did indeed tread lightly. be careful, meth can be devastating if abused. be careful, meth is also extremely fun.

Re: Meth isn't that bad - nor addictive

SWIM doesnt feel its that addictive either. SWIM has been smoking it for about a year now. SWIM can count the number of times he has smoked. SWIM has gone on a couple binges, but has quite for several months afterwards.

SWIM admits the hardest part is the comedown. You want it really bad but as you said, smoking weed helps. It also kinda sucks during the actual smoking of it because you always want to take another hit. It sucks to have just a hit and then nothing else. SWIM would rather have none at all...

SWIM is able to stop it though once the baggie is gone and avoid it for a long time.
