Passiflora caerulea - just how poisonous is it?

SWIM has been interested in using Passion flower as a sleep aid for some time (from reports he has read, it's actual recreational potential seems quite small). He is aware of the MAOI, but only has access to Passiflora caerulea, which contains cyanogenic glycoside, which breaks down into cyanide (which swim knows all about and would rather avoid). SWIM wants to know if this species is safe to use - is the concentration of cyanogenic glycoside safe? Could there be any negative health effects?

SWIM has heared that the plant can be boiled to remove the cyanogenic glycoside, and this seems to be a viable option. SWIM wants to know how long boiling is neccesary for, if it is effective, and if this would also destroy any of the active ingredients SWIM wants the passionflower for.

SWIM would also appreciate knowing of anyone elses experience with passionflower as a sleep aid, especially this species, and if it continues to cause drowsiness in the morning.

SWIM apologises for asking such a mess of questions, but searches revealed no definite information good enough to help. SWIM is probably overly paranoid about getting poisoned, but perhaps this is a good thing.

Thankyou
