I was wondering how much, in relatively exact terms, how much a
full-on heroin addiction costs per month or week or whatever.
Thanks.

Well, when I was slammin the needle full time, I was doing
anywhere from $200-$300 a day.

But, with any good H habit, you can't go without other things to make
it more enjoyable, like banging cola with it.

seriously 200-300 of just heroin? is that considered a normal
addiction or way over the edge? By normal addiction i guess i mean
one that you could keep up with out dying.

How does a person keep that kind of thing up? That's almost
$100,000 per year, not a lot of people make that kind of money, and
that excludes the cost of things like a house and food.

Well, considering where I lived at the time, a bag of H could cost
anywhere from $20-$30 ea. So, if you got ten bags a day, there's
your $200.

Now, throw in a couple of rocks here and there to bring you back up
for the next round, and you're off again.

No, you won't live long with that habit. I ended up in the hospital
more times than I can count. And when I finally kicked, I weighed
around 98lbs.

I'm 6 foot tall, and normal body weight for me is about 220 most of
the time, so that should tell you something.

I watched alot of friends die on the streets from that shit, I'm glad
God kicked me in the ass, and woke me up before it was to late.

Peace,

When you live on the streets, you don't have a houseor food.

The junk is your food, and you bounce around from place to place to
get food when you are hungry (which isn't often), and there are
these neat little places that give you clothing for free.

You know, that's the funny thing about "do-gooders"... They think
they're helping all of the street people with their handouts, when in
reality, all they are doing is helping them to keep getting high.

And then, you have people that leave shit laying around like credit
cards, blank checks, shit like that. Man, $100,000 a year ain't
shit! I could get that in a few days when I was hopin'.

That reminds me of another thing...

I used to hang out with a couple other junkies, and I'd watch them
"pan-handle" $200-$300 a day easy..

It's really very simple once you've lived that life. There ain't nothin' a
junkie can't do, except live very long.

You can live with heroin. It doesn't kill you if you use it modorately and let the body recover after each time you use it. The body can't recover and be safe if you're an addict, so forget it. I wanted to have a heroin habit (5 hits/week + other drugs), but i thought about it, and it's not so easy. I'm glad i didn't try it, because i would have loved it more than anything. A normal person cant have a long term heroin habit and still maintain their life. We're not that rich.

@Lost: No way you could make 100 000 in a few days, man. How the hell would you do that? You must be a very good thief. If i try really hard, the max i can get is 3-400$ in a few days.

Hi Creeping,

Well I guess it all depends on what you're willing to do for it. I
personally knew people that could make $500 a day without a
problem. Most are either now dead or in prison for a long time.

Hell, most hookers I knew could make between $300-$500 a day
just from turning tricks.

Don't know, I guess it's all where you're from, but it can and does
happen, and happens often.

well i think dopes got a lot cheaper nowadays. back in late eighties early 90s a gram of teh good stuff was around 300-400 (canada-big cities). at my peak i was doing a coupla grams a day. but that life is a bich..too much hustling. i don't miss it for a sec. the crazy thing is when you're doing that much you're NEVER getting high-yeah and thats when the cola comes in, jsut trying to catch a buzz...and thats when the real crazy shit hits the fan, no?

i was living in thailand mid 90's, had all the dope in the world-same thing-just couldn't get high no more. mixing up half gram hits in liquid valium, drinking a quart of whisky as well every day, just to get by.

you can't win with this stuff, lest i can't.

anyone out there able to say that they maintain just fine? no problems supporting a habit? long term? any successful long term chippers? i thought i could chip again, and managed to for 3 years, till it caught up with me once again...i got almost a month not using anything, nothing at all, not even tobaco. feel reall great

let me know your thoghts on this

Hi jimdandy

Yep, I agree 100%. I don't know all of the medical stuff, but it's got
something to do with the receptors in your brain getting burned out,
and from my understanding, they never really come back after you've
hit them real hard.

I know when I go to the hospital or the dentist, they can never numb
me up. When I've been to the hospital on a couple of occasions, the
only thing they could do was put me out completely.

It was really fun for the first few years of my life, but after that
demon really took hold, it's basically made me numb to all kinds of
stuff.

I haven't touched H in about 5 years now, but I know if I did, I'd
be right back where I left off, simply because it would take that
much and more to feel "normal".

The only long term people I've ever known where people that basically
smoke weed, and that's it. I knew people who "claimed" they could
maintain their H habit, and then watch them a month later riding
to the hospital from an overdose, and end up dead.

Maybe someone has done it, but I know I can't...

Depending on your tolarance, dilaudid are roughly the same expense in my area, actually a little cheaper. My habit, although I've never really had to pay for all the time. Was by the end of my using , costing roughly $450.00 - $600.00 a day. Only had 4 years practice. Smack would be another percentage higher then that.

I think its a shame that heroin is so expensive. If you think about it, its a feeling that all people long for for their whole lives. That happiness. Unfortunaltely, quick joy comes with strings attached.

I remember being able to get high all day for $7, and I alsoremember needing more than the spoon could hold just to get out of bed and not shit myself. It seemed like a really cheap habit at first, before it took hold. Yes, $200 a day is easy, but I started out with a house and my folk's life savings and a good career... good health. I was lucky only to have spent those.

A friend of mine was telling me just the other day how his brother back
home is a hard working chap who spends $150 a day on dope. This amount
of dope (a gram and a half) doesn't even get him high...it just keeps
him from getting sick.

He's done heroin everyday for four years and he has a great job where
he makes a lot of money. He's never ODed and he's very careful with the
stuff.

A success heroin addict if I've ever heard of one. $150 not to get sick is a bit insane to me, however.

I think sticking to once in a while is a good habit.

well where Im from u can get a decent bagasmack 4 5 bucks. But it's sometimey. If you go ahead and spend the 8 bucks ur about 94% liable to get a good bag. After time and tolerance though it still gets pretty expensive. After awhile no more high, just tryna feel normal. WTF!
