So Im writing a fictional book about a fictional character named Swim , in this chapter Swim is goona take xanax+ritalin, so i need to know the effects that it will on my character Swim?

In this chapter Swim is thining about 2-3mg of xanax and snorting 20-30mg of ritalin?? Will swim die?Will swim feel bad or will swim great?

Well, speaking from expierence...If SWIY is married, SWIY's wife will kick SWIY out until Dr. Jeckyl returns. ('Cause the Mr. Hyde part won't know if it's coming or going.) SWIM took 40 mg of rit & 20 mg of Xan. Then 3 hrs later repeated this. Then several hours later SWIM found SWIM out on the front lawn with enough clothes thrown on SWIM to keep SWIM going for a few weeks. Later SWIM found out, (and was witnessed by SWIM kids) the things SWIM did after the second dose SWIM later found out what damage SWIM did to house & fatherly reputation was never realized because of the "black-out effect SWIM had. Sadly SWIM had to stay away from home & family for 6 months. Then was slowly allowed to prove SWIM's self worth to all involved. Of course SWIY may have a different outcome so do your homework first. P.S. SWIM has been taking 80 to 120 mgs of Rit for past 3 years. Yes SWIM is very norbal.

uppers and downers donot mix. in swims opinion its a bad reaction and can lead to heart problems.

Well my charachter swimmy in my book snorted 30mg of ritalin took 2mg of xanax , 30 mg of zoplicone and 20mg of dihenhydramine.

Swim got all tired and went to sleep

As a prescribed combo, this is fine...I'm prescribed stimulants for ADD and benzos for anxiety, which I take at the same time. No bad effects. I wind up feeling normal (able to concentrate and not go narcoleptic while driving, listening to lectures, etc. and anxiety/apathy is gone). However, this is when they are taken together in normal-sized doses as prescribed. I think if you tried abusing them like that, you'd probably just have one cancel the other out. Benzos are designed to pretty much not cause bad reactions (such as speedballing from mixing uppers and downers...I've actually seen clonazepam help stop that reaction in someone at a party) with other drugs. However, above posters seem to disagree, so perhaps it's the high dosage and the way the drugs are taken...

Yes of course its a fictional novel i would never do anything illegal myself like using drugs

I mean what good what it serve if swimmers on this forum dabbled, er..uh..I mean learned the harmful effects & misuse of western medicine and all the non-recreational uses not going on. (huh?)

This site, as SWIM understands it, is to allow those who want to work at earning a pharmaceutical license. Then all the SWIM(s) could cut all the chain pharmacies down by selling the meds out of SWIM's car trunk.

SWIM uses benzos when he feels an overdose coming on from uppers. It helps mitigate the panic attack and keep his blood pressure and pulse in check. Not sure if this is the smartest thing to do but it seems to work.

this is about the only use swim would se any reason for mixing the 2...
think..1 goes up..the other goes down..do this at the same time..and where does swim go..NOWHERE...

swim uses hte above approach as well..when swim reaches about 300 mgs a day its time to make sure the blood pressure drops..
swim has never had any blackouts or jeckyl/hyde issues..

swim would advise though to not mix much if any alcahol with teh xanax or any benz..that is when one may black out and wake up naked laying next to a moose on the local upstate farm..and if swim was to mix alcahol wiht it, only very little as needed..take that into serious consideration..

First, let me preface this post by saying that in NO WAY should these two drugs be used at high doses together. In contrast to what previous posters have said, based on both SWIM's experience and extensive research the two compounds, when taken at the right (therapeutic) don't necessarily synergize, but compliment each other very well. Although SWIM has mostly combined the Xanax with Adderall, and not Ritalin, the times I did combine with the Ritalin were just as enjoyable. Ritalin operates differently than Adderall of course, as Addy is a dopamine releaser while Ritalin is a reuptake inhibitor.

What many people have not seem to know, or at least not mention, is that benzodiazepines (XANAX and others) are the medically accepted antidote to amphetamine/stimulant overdose. However! These two substances, when taken together, essentially cancel the NEGATIVE side effects of each other. Xanax takes care of the anxiety/heart racing/psychotic effects of Adderall/Ritalin, while the stims take care of the sleepiness derived from Xanax. SWIY gets all the euphoria from the adderall/ritalin, and the serenity from the xanax. Its an amazing, amazing combination.

WARNING: DO NOT TAKE MORE OF EITHER MEDICATION WHEN MIXING THE TWO. In fact, it is better to take a regular dose of adderall/ritalin (20mg 3x/day for SWIM) along with a very small (0.5mg-1mg) dose of Xanax. To achieve the best effects, take the xanax approximately 45mins-1 hour after the Adderall/ritalin. Also, as previous posters have noted, Xanax can be taken during the comedown phase of Adderall to lessen the side effects and promote sleep. A lab rat with vocal capabilities had the following to say about the combination:

"Rat will do his best to describe the synergized effects of using Xanax and/or Klonopin simultaneously with Adderall. When using Adderall by itself, especially in large doses, the soaring, euphoric stimulation is accompanied by uncomfortable effects such as muscle tension, perhaps a little trembling or difficulty taking deep breaths, sensations of bodily weakness, nervousness, etc. Xanax COMPLETELY eliminates these effects; the Rat is not kidding! They disappear without a trace. All the rat is left with is the desirable effects of amphetamine: the feelings of emotional well-being, amazing intellectual ability, and boundless yet controllable energy are not diminished at all.

But the Xanax does more than just cancel out the negative side of Adderall. Alone, Xanax (and other benzodiazepines) makes the rat impervious to agitation, intimidation, anxiety of any kind: Rat feels completely serene in all circumstances. However, large (say 3+mg of Xanax) doses will inevitably lead to passing out, often even if I try to fight it. When Rat wakes up, he remembers nothing! Well, the Adderall eliminates the overwhelming desire for sleep and preserves my memories without diminishing at all the complete relaxation.

Therefore if I take both drugs at once I will increase strong positive effects from both while simultaneously eliminating their respective negative effects. The synergy is amazing; the two produce a third drug which is better than either alone."
SWIM does NOT suggest taking large doses of either medication simultaneously. Even after taking large doses of amphetamines, 2mg of Xanax should be more than enough to soften the comedown.
