LSD propaganda: Flashbacks or not?
Alright, I hate that the number of stupid drugees out numbers those of the smart and intelligent users. But this post is about LSD-25. Is it true that you can experience flashbacks even if your trip wasnt a bad one? And how long is the possibility for flashbacks in effect for? The government is responsible for all the juvinials these days who run around snorting or doing whatever they find. Its the bullshit they put out that when the kids find its incorrect, they are so eager for truth that they believe the next thing that someone says, whether it be tripping off of Stridex acne pads if you eat them or what.
Thank you I'm just trying to save myself from the hogwash they tell us. |

I believe what i see. I have never had a flashback nor have i ever met someone that has had one, or at least it never came up in conversation. And yes i agree that governments lie, withhold truth, and are stupid in a lot of ways. However blaming them for individuals stupidity is stupid in itself. One has to develope their own bullshit detector somewhere along the way. |

weinberg43 .... did you know that life can cause flashbacks? the most common flashbacks are surfacing memories of past events that you mind has blocked out. does LSD cause flashbacks? no more than life or water does.

I've seen people claim EVERYTHING psychoactive has given them a flashback, from weed to DXM.
I have never experienced a flashback and don't know anyone personally who has. |

I've never had a flashback, but people I know who have used it excessively say they sometimes see objects distort in their peripheral vision. |

I've had flahsbacks on repeated ocasions. Everything from the dialated pupils to seeing light formations, or complex color paterns. It's called Persistent hallucinogenic syndrome, or something of that sort. Does it make you go on a killing spree or something of that sort? Certainly not. As shulgin said, the brain is capable of reproducing every state of mind that can be induced through a given substance [it's in my signature if you want the actual quote]. So what I make of it, is that the brain remembers the chemical reaction associated to an lsd trip, without the actual lsd. But it can only do it for a brief period of time, at least without proper training... the problem is, nobody has come up with that such training. |

All "flashbacks" are, are memories. I can "flashback" to the day I started kindergarden.

I think LSD flashbacks are just simply HPPD. Hallucination Persisting Something Disorder. Which means that even when you come down off of LSD you still Hallucinate, but not a visual as when your tripping. And real flashbacks are like searcher said, "Memories." Like something could trigger a memory in your head of when you where tripping.

Yes flashbacks or micro trips can occur, hallucinogen molecules can become stored in the fatty tissues of the brain synapses and be released during moments of excitation or panic, they are usually not harmful nor are they frequent ie in most cases. A person should always trip in a soft environment to avoid any thing that may be dysfunctional. |

But I have yet to try Lsd. I have some minor form hppd probably so small because what i got it from wasn't Lsd. Ive done weed,(def not, except white or dark areas look sort of static like when your stoned) Lsa,(The visuals experienced are exactly like some while on this)Shrooms(i dunno if this did anythin) the others i dont think did anything for sure. What do you think, When what im looking at is a complicated enough pattern it will slowly twist and rotate kind of then swirl. I have to not blink in the middle of it, but it happens pretty fast after looking at the object. |

- HPPD says "persistant" in the name and so a very short trip doesn´t match the definition. - The whole "cracking the back" business is an urban myth, it may work when you believe in it though, ask Pawlov´s dogs and religious fanatics how this works. Hitting your thumb with a hammer gives nice visuals too without ever having used any psychodelic compound. ASK EROWID! http://www.erowid.org /fish |

My theory of flash backs goes like this. There is no such thing as flashing back to an LSD or any other psychedellic. However after taking LSD it is possible for a person to voluntarily train themseves to, at will, alter the state of consciouness ever so slightly and cause very mild visual activity, particualy in the perihpheral vison. This process can be stopped at will by simple willing it no more or ignoring it. I believe the few people that claim to have flash backs are either outright liars or people of low IQ that have trained and habituated themselves to this wilful alteration of consciouness. Theu are so worried about having a flashback that they start to make things move in their side vision. This freaks them out even more and they can't stop paying attention to it. After a while they are doing it all the time and then tell people they are permafried. The joke is on them however as they could stop this viscous circle by simply paying it no attention. I think this is what HPPD really is. It could also be called hyped up dorks syndrom or the placebo effect. It really is a classic delayed form of placebo effect. Someone takes LSD expecting to flash back in the future. Then they make it hapen. |

If you had a flashback that was comparitive in intensity to an actual dose of LSD, technically it would not be a flashback, it would be a "psychotic break with reality" hence, a pathological state and a clinical condition which would necessitate hospitalization. If you know of someone that has experiences like this or you yourself are having these "free trips" seek medical attention immediately, or stay away from them completely. |

Ok, here's the deal, most people who have flashbacks suffer either a bad trip, or a trip of phenominal emotional stress; a very powerful trip. This *might* (a very, very low chance) cause flashbacks if something happens that "reminds" (triggers the brain) of the experience. This is similar to who a vietnam vet might have a flashback to his war days after watching apocalypse now. Also, those two flashbacks are exactly the same. An lsd user can also sorta train themselves to see certain things as they might while tripping. I "know a guy" who can sometimes sorta make things bubble or shift around a bit if he really concentrates. Not always though, just rare occasions. It happens because a user becomes very familar with the experience and can "remember" the experience. All of this is very vague, since no one is sure how the brain works. And if anyone tells you that flashbacks occur because it stays in your: back, spine, brain, etc. Tell them they're a goddamn idiot. I hate it when people buy into lies.Edited by: mf400 |
