Swims brothers lama had a mysterious possible overdose on morphine sulphate. I shall recount to the best of my ability the story i was told.

Swims brothers lama is a large heavy weighted body building type chap. he suffered from a medical problem which caused him to need an operaion which left him with some temporary residual pain. The doctors prescribed some liquid morphine sulphate to deal with the problem. During this time swims brothers stupid lama decided he would experiment with the morphine for fun, the stated dose did nothing to ease the pain or give recreational effects so the lama exceeded the dose masssively over the course of a day drinking many times more than the stated maximum dose. nothing happened. no pain relief no pleasurable effects.
now we cut to the fateful night of the event. Swim was holding a respectable dinner party with freinds. Swims brothers lama came home early from a business trip and proceeded to drinkadoo a couple of glasses of wine. unsatisfied with his level of intoxication the foolish lama decided to dose on the morphine against swims advice that morphine and alcohol may cause death. The foolish lama proceeds without swims knowledge. as swim does a round of the house to check all is well he enters his lamas bedroom to find him lying in his bed in agony with abdominal pain. the pain was to such an extent that the lama was asking for medical assisstance. an ambulance was called and swim had to take his lama to hospital. the medical men explained that the lama had taken the maximum dose over 24 hours in a very short space of time and that he was having a morphine overdose. at this point swim asked some probing questions to the medicine man to try to understand what was happening since the lama had previously taken way over the stated dose with no feelings of contentment or pain relief to be had. Swim asked bluntly if this was the same kind of morphine that a junkie might take to get high and medicine man said yes.swim asked the medicine man why in that case did the lama feel no pleasurable or pain relieveing effects,the medicine man said he did not know.eventually at the hospital the lama was administered some drugs to treat morphine overdoses and the pain went away and the lama was happy again.
So what i want to know is: why did the lama suffer a bad reaction the second time he massivley surpassed the stated dose but not the first. and why did the lama not feel any pleasurable effects associated with morphine on either occassion? considering this is medical grade liquid morphine sulphate.

Very strange, now im not particularly experienced with Liquid morphine so im not sure if it too can come in extended release form. Could you ask this person if his morphine was extended release, because that means it is released slowly over usally 24 hours. And if he is faily heavy the dose could have been low enough that even if he took double the ammount he did not feel the affects, and maybe if it is extended release, He could have took some earlier, and the some later in the day and the doses came on at the same time. Not likley from what you posted but the only other thing i can think of is. This person may be one of the few who has no reactions to morphine, and it is just poison to his body. I have taked a very high dose of morphine many times, more than i should have around 270mg one time and i would say i was experiancing slight over dose effects, even then i never had andomonal pain. So again i would think a possible alergic reaction to the morphine. Sorry i cant be of more help, maybe someone else here can answer the qustion for you.

yeah the really weird thing is this though. if the lama has no opiate tolerance whatsoever and is drinking 2, 3 times the daily dose in day but isnt feeling pain relief or pleasure or overdosing? whats that about?
