Re: Mj & Methadone

It seems likely that cannabis would have a synergistic effect when combined with an opiate. Cannabinoid receptors have been found in pain pathways and cannabinoids present in marijuana have been demonstrated to have analgesic effects, presumably by suppressing neural transmission in pathways conveying pain signals.

The synergistic effects of THC and opiates are documented, and have been shown to be attenuated by either opiate receptor or cannabinoid receptor antagonists.

However, I have seen evidence for this synergistic effect only in the realm of analgesic (pain killing) and sedative effects. I would not discount the possibility of cannabis increasing euhporia, given that THC appears to activate the mesolimbic system, a system of dopaminergic neurons implicated in the reinforcement of behaviors (it has been debated whether or not the effects of activating this reinforcement system constitute "pleasure").

I am not certain what you refer to by "the nod."
