Hydrocodone and Cyclobenzaprine - Safe?

SWiM has ingested a 50 mg dose of hydrocodone (five 10/660s). He also has four 10 mg cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril, a commonly prescribed muscle relaxant). Swim was wondering if it would be safe to take all 40mgs of cyclobenzaprine?
He knows they potentiate opiates, but is not taking them solely to do so.



Also, this is his first time taking cyclobenzaprine, and was wondering if anyone could inquire on the recreational effects other than relaxation/drowsiness?

First off, SWIM recommends a cold water extraction next time SWIY plans on taking that much Hydrocodone. With 660 mg's APAP per pill, that's 3300 mg's of Acetaminophen which is very hard on ones liver. It's really not healthy at all. There is plenty of information on this site on how to do a simple cold water extraction - it's not hard or even very time consuming at all.

About the Cyclobenzaprine, SWIM is not very aware of the dangers of it in high doses or it's LD50 but he will say that 40 mg's would most likely knock one out. 20 mg's used in conjunction with the Hydros should be plenty enough to potentiate them and give SWIY a great nod. SWIM really thinks it would be kind of pointless to take 40 mg's when 20 should do the trick and with 40 mg's it may just knock you out and what fun is that?

Also, some people believe that Cyclobenzaprine has some recreational potential by itself. SWIM for one, does not. It just makes him sleepy. He enjoys having them for opiate/oid potentiation and/or if he wishes to go to sleep but thats about it.

Thanks a lot for the info. swim's heard the same things from a few people, but this forum is a much more credible source than people who distribute drugs.


as for the hydros, swim did and ALWAYS does CWEs when taking large amounts of anything with aceteminiphoen.

swim says the cyclobenazprine will potentiate the effects of the opiates so if swiy is allready feeling near the limit it may not be a good idea.. however if you choose to ignore swims warning he has this to say. start with a single dose of 10mg and work up cyclobenazprine besides potentiating the opiates around 50 percent it will add more sleepyness to the buzz causing this swim to nod in and out of a euphoric opiate black hole.. however swim would like to state that besides opiate potentiation or the cure of insomnia cyclobenzaprine is useless recreationally swiy will simplly be tired and wake up very confused as to when exactlly swiy fell a sleep.. in swims opinion cyclo isnt even an effective muscle relaxant compared to say tizanzidine , carisiporadol, or skelaxin. swim also would like to say cyclo takes up to an hour and a half to fully kick in so swiy should remember that before redosing

the two are often prescribed together in varying combinations, but certainly nothing exceeding 10 mgs cyclobenzaprine and 20 to 30 mgs hydrocodone with hte normal 300+ mgs apap per pill (or 40-60 mgs hydrocodone if assuming that it' the LOW-apap pills).

using both in recreational doses should be done with caution,, as has been mentioned: start low and work up. as long as one isn't ingesting large amount of both at once there shouldn't be an issue.

Since its SWIY's first time and they have no idea how the drug will affect them, they should start with the prescribed dose and work up. One can always add more..but one cant take back too much once its in the system.
