Mushrooms help post withdrawal depression / problems?
SWIM was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. SWIM has been flipping from heroin to suboxone a lot, and often will go through 24-48 hours of hell before he isn't sick, and then needs another day to feel physically okay (but will still be crushingly depressed for not having heroin). SWIM was freaked out because he had to go to this halloween party, and his system was low on opiates - not enough for severe withdrawals, but enough to be really wound up, depressed, and full of anxiety about the opiate-less future.
SWIM shroomed at the party and had a great time. He noticed for the next couple days, he wasn't all anxious and almost felt like he didn't need to take any heroin/suboxone because he felt good for way longer than he should have. He did just to be safe, and felt much better than usual. SWIM knows Iboga sort of "resets" your brain with a trip and stops withdrawals. SWIM knows mushrooms don't do this, but wonders if maybe for post-withdrawal issues (see Richard Smoker's post) if a mushroom trip could help get you back on your feet more quickly. This is also somewhat supported by the video link about mushrooms improving confidence and well being on the main page. Anyone have personal or second hand experience with this? |

Re: Mushrooms help post withdrawal depression / problems?
Psychedelics as a whole, can have this sort of impact. You just need to understand that they can not be used as a replacement, as the benefits will soon dissipate and you will be dealing with just a different problem.
Next time, instead of "being safe", take advantage of the positive effects of the trip and stop the opiates for good. This is an excellent book on the subject, try and get a copy It's long and isn't all about addiction treatment, but will provide you with a good start. Some other books of interest best of luck. |

Re: Mushrooms help post withdrawal depression / problems?
very interesting ideas, dying.
someone might need to check into this further. I trust that if you SAY it, then I tend to believe it! ![]() my piggie had a similar experience several years back with the phenethylamines 2c-i and 2c-e. can't recall which was stronger--but i think it was the 2c-i. here were the reported effects: while on the 2c-i, opiates had essentially no effects. with subsequent experimentation, it was found that one could essentially substitute out all opiates during the time of 'tripping' on the 2c-i/e that seemed to last into the next day. sounds pretty similar to your story. only thing is going to be with the quality & species of the shrooms. there are good shrooms and BAD ones, imo. -DICK |
