GHB (G, Grievous Bodily Harm, Goob, Liquid Ecstasy, Liquid X), 1-2 days

Heroin (Horse, Smack), 1-2 days

Inhalants, just a few hours

Ketamine (K, Kit Kat, Special K, Vitamin K), 2-4 days

LSD (Acid, Blotter, Microdot, Yellow sunshine), a few hours or up to 5 days

Marijuana (Bud, Blunt, Grass, Herb, Pot, Reefer, Sinsemilla, Smoke, Weed), 2-5 days (the daily, heavy user can sometimes be detected up to 30+ days)

MDMA (Ecstasy), 1-5 days

Methadone, 1-7 days

Methamphetamines (Crank, Crystal, Desoxyn, Glass, Ice, Speed), 2-4 days

Methaqualone (Ludes, Quaaludes), 10-15 days

Nicotine (Cigarettes, Cigars, Habitrol patch, Nicorette gum, Nicotrol spray, Prostep patch; Smokeless tobacco, Snuff, Spit tobacco), 1-2 days

Opiates (i.e., Opium: China, Dreams, Laudanum, Paregoric; Dover's Powder), 1-2 days

Oxycodone (OxyContin, Percolone, Roxicodone), 1-2 days

PCP (Angel Dust, Boat, Hog, Love Boat), 1-8 days

For chronic drug users, drugs (other than alcohol) can be retained in the system much longer by the chronic-user after their last use. For instance, marijuana and PCP can be detected for up to 60-90 days after

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

That's a good list and very informative post, however some of those are on the very low side, notable especially on the stimulants such as Amphetamine and Cocaine, which I believe could be up to 4 days for the average person (urine).

The test type is also worth mentioning (see bottom of post), as you have not stated here what test these are for. For example a hair test could detect traces of drugs in the last 90 days, and with certain drugs like opiates they can actually tell from the hair around what time in those 90 days it was consumed from the distribution down the shaft of the hair.

It is also worth mentioning that those values are really averages and do not necessarily hold true for everyone, since many factors such as the speed of your metabolism, enzyme induction/inhibition, pharmacogenetics, gender differences, and other variables all play a role. For example the elderly take longer than a young adult or child to metabolize drugs. The only reason I point this out is because some people will take the values and may cease their use based on them before a drugs test - and then fail.

TEST TYPES
There are five primary types of drug tests: urine, blood, hair, saliva, and sweat. Most common is the urine test which has the benefit of being inexpensive and less intrusive than the blood test.

Urine Tests

* Are the least expensive of the test methods (~$7-$50 for home version).
* Are considered an intrusive method of testing.
* Can be done at home (for example by parents) though require lab verification for accurate results.
* Detect use primarily within the past week (longer with regular use).
* Can be affected by abstaining from use for a period of time before the test.
* Are often temperature tested to insure sample integrity.

Saliva Tests

* Are a little more expensive than urine testing, but less than hair or blood. (~$15-$75).
* Are considered a relatively unintrusive method of drug testing.
* Are becoming more common.
* Are easy to administer but require lab processing to ensure accuracy.
* Detect use primarily within the past few days.
* Can detect more recent use than other testing methods.
* Have no nationally accepted standards or cutoff concentrations for detection, making results greatly dependent on the specific product purchased. This could also make results less-reliable and/or acceptable for legal cases.
* More reliable for detection of Methamphetamine and Opiates, less reliable for THC or Cannabinoids (2004).

Hair Tests

* Are currently several times more expensive than urine tests (~$100-$150).
* Are considered a relatively unintrusive method of drug testing.
* Detect substance use over a longer period (see detection period).
* Do not usually detect use within the past week.
* Require a sample of hair about the diameter of a pencil and 1.5 inches long. They can not be done with a single hair.
* Test positive a little more than twice as often as a urine test. In a recent study, out of 1823 paired hair and urine samples, 57 urine samples tested positive for drugs of abuse; while 124 hair samples from the same group tested positive.
* Are not significantly affected by brief periods of abstinence from drugs.
* Can sometimes be used to determine when use occured and if it has been discontinued. Drugs, such as opiates (codeine, morphine, heroin) lay down on the hair shaft very tightly and are shown not to migrate along the shaft, thus, if a long segment of hair is available one can draw some "relative" conclusions about when the use occurred. However cocaine, although very easy to detect, is able to migrate along the shaft; making it very difficult to determine when the drug was used and for how long.
* Claims to be able to reliably differentiate between opiate and poppy seed use.
* We've heard that many hair tests now check for more than the SAMHSA-5, and include at least Cannabis, Ecstasy/MDMA, Cocaine, Opiates, Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, Phencyclidine (PCP), Benzodiazepines, & Barbiturates (2001).

Blood Tests

* Are the most expensive method of testing.
* Are considered the most intrusive method of testing.
* Are the most accurate method of testing.
* Are the least common method of testing (most likely due to cost).

Sweat (Patch) Tests

* Are considered a relatively intrusive method of drug testing because they require the wearing of a patch for an extended period of time.
* Are still relatively uncommon.
* Are controversial in terms of accuracy. There is some reason to believe that surface contamination (such as cannabis smoke) can cause a false reading.
* Can detect use which would not trigger other tests. Because of the short detection period for many drugs in urine, single use of many drugs longer than a week prior to using the patch will not cause a positive urine test. Because the skin patches are gathering sweat over an extended period of time, it is possible that any use during that time will produce a positive result.

that's a very great bit of info.

You also forgot to mention what they normally test for in a drug test.

In a urine test they detect the "Basic 5" which include:
THC
Opiates
Methamphetamines
Cocaine
and Amphetamines

The basic NIDA - 5 that are tested for are as follows:

  1. Cannabinoids (marijuana, hash)
  2. Cocaine (cocaine, crack, benzoylecognine)
  3. Amphetamines (amphetamines, methamphetamines, speed)
  4. Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine)
  5. Phencyclidine (PCP)
The tests may be expanded to include barbituates, tryptamines, and the like.

One thing swim has a lot of trouble finding out is how long psilocybin stays in the system. Anyone have any information on this?

EDIT: According to a Dr. Tamer Fouad, Psilocybin can be detected in urine for 1-3 days.

Post Quality Evaluations:
right on with the info

It's not tested in the most common standard or extended drug tests, and not one of the common five, but it can be tested for, albeit expensive. It can be detected in urine and blood (and most likely tested for in hair, sweat, and saliva).

So it may not show up because it's not looked for in a standard test, but yes it can be tested for outside of a spinal tap.

Fentanyl is usually not detected in standard urine screens because it lacks morphine metabolites.

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

SWIM thought it might be important to share this information here rather than anywhere else.
Marijuana detection period can vary GREATLY from person to person. To say that THC can be detected in one's urine for 2 days up to 6 weeks is terribly inaccurate.
In SWIM's case, it is (was) the lucky side of things.
Swim is on probation for marijuana possession, and was tested randomly on the first day (day of enrollment) of his program. The date of this was 10/21. Prior to this, he had smoked marijuana a number of times over the course of a few hours during a Nas/Damian Marley concert on 10/17. A week before that, he tripped LSD, and decided to stop smoking marijuana for however long he needed to. Ironically, over the next week and half he only smoked once at the concert. On 10/21, his test came up negative. Prior to stopping after 10/10, swim had smoked consistently everyday for months on end.
How did he pass his probation distributed UA test? Mainly because, swim thinks, he has very little (if any) fat cells, thus THC is not stored in his body for as long.

Why and how he passed his test is due to a number of explanations, but either way, most guides will tell swiy that a person who smokes regularly will take upwards of 3 weeks to detox completely of THC. for swim, this was all but true; it took him only 1.5 weeks, and he smoked once within that time.
Trust and know your body's metabolism before you immediately refer to the general averages of the drug charts given. SWIY may be surprised.

Post Quality Evaluations:
yes, true it depends on the persons body weight and fatty tissue

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

It's true that the 2 days to 3 weeks is pretty broad. In most cases a casual marijuana smoker will have most THC metabolites cleared from their system after 3 days. But to say that people should blow off the 3 week detox time limit because of one or a few people's experience of passing the test after a few days of abstaining would be ill advised. There are multiple factors regarding detox duration that have to be considered:

Is the individual a casual or chronic smoker (if chronic, are they smoking 3-5 joints or a blunt a day?)

THC is lipophilic, having a higher body fat percentage will cause THC metabolites to stay in the body longer than the average 2-3 day elimination time (hence the up to 3+ weeks on the guide).

One would also need to if the subject is flushing at the time of the test, were creatinine levels <20mg/dL? Was the subject's urine concentrated?

What is the daily activity for the subject? Do they work out everyday or watch 8 hours of TV a day?

There are many factors that need to be taken into account each individual marijuana smoker. Yes one may be a 1 joint a day smoker, who has 8% body fat, runs 5 miles a day, and drinks 1 gallon of water a day and test negative after 3 days of abstaining. But for someone who smokes 3 joints/week, has 22 body fat, gets 0 minutes of exercise a day, and drinks 2 glasses of anything per day will test positive after 3 days of abstaining.

At my puppy's lab, we tell submitting agencies to give a 45 day window for residual THC false positives.

I know much of this matches the O.P. but since there's three ways to compare here (thing he mentions that ghost book might not, thing that conflict, and ,obviously, things that matched) I thought putting them all down would be best for comparrison purposes

my ghost might have a book she might not supposed to have and it might say

-)barbiturates)_amobarbitol=2-4d_butalbital=2-4d_pentobarbitol=2-4d_phenobarbitol<30d_secobarbitol=2-4d
-)benzodiazepines)_diazapam (valium)=<30d_chlordiazepoxide=<30d
-)cocaine=12-72h" (I'm assumine thats coke + crack any one know if theres a difference, for some reason I feel like crack would take less time?)
-)"cannabinoids )_single use=3d_moderate=5d_daily=10d_chronic=21-27d
-)methadone 1-4d
-)opiates)_codiene=2-4d_hydromorphone (dilauded)=2-4d_morphine/heroin= 2-4d" (assuming most other's are similar, any exceptions)
-)"pcp)_casual use=<5d_chronic=<14d

note:may vary w/ variables such as drug metabolism + half life, phisical condition,FLUID INTAKE,method/frequency used " (any one know the how the methods influence it, I'm assuming banging is quicker than smoking is quicker than snorting is quicker than eating, just like order of time it takes to get user high, any exceptions?

ghost cannot credit or discredit ant info here, she kinda trusts the book cause in the ordering info, agency of the goverment is required +Its got some info in here ghost really don't think they want you to have, and I don't think they would tell the truth about some of this shit, just to make another part of it part of their PC propaganda lie machine , but you never know

sorry about resurecting some dead posts in the past, I figure this ones december 2010 + its probably a first stop for lots of fuked over people so it should be O.K.

Is this what the O.P. meant? I know absolutely nothing, but thought perhaps it was meant to say "in" accurate?

Marijuana detection period can vary GREATLY from person to person. To say that THC can be detected in one's urine for 2 days up to 6 weeks is terribly accurate.

And I'm sorry I don't know where else to post this question, but why are some of the drug names not hyperlinked, even though DF has information to link them to?

I believe you are correct. What Enlightenment was trying to say is that marijuana detection times are so variable that giving a specific number might create a false sense of security. The numbers are representative of the average from a population of measurements but the variability is substantial. THC metabolites may be detectable for much shorter or longer periods of time depending on a number of factors.

And I'm sorry I don't know where else to post this question, but why are some of the drug names not hyperlinked, even though DF has information to link them to?
Any drug that has an article in the Drugs Wiki is automatically hyperlinked in this way. The names without links are those that currently do not have an article as it is still a work in progress. It also only hyperlinks drug names the first time they appear in a post.

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

my buddy Rambo took 1 gram powered cocaine and after 3 months clean and tested positive after a heavy duty full body cleanse = 8 days later.

SO ANYTHING AND ANY NUMBERS YOU EVER READ ON THE NET RE: THIS TOPIC OR BIO-AVAIL. ... are simply examples as everyone is different.

Nothing really adds up any more. Trust my buddy Rambo knows, Nothing is over. nothing.

it all varies on a persons body and how they metabolize these things. Its a crap shoot for some.

Drugs and diabetes

I was curious on how drugs such as ice, gas, pot etc, have an effect on type 1 diabetics
Do they take longer to get out of yur system?
And does it vary on how long it takes to get out of yur system when either smoking shooting snorting etc?

And also I was told that drugs and diabetes makes what ever the drug is more effective
Is this true?

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

^ You've posted in a really old thread with a question that has hardly any significance in it in the first place..

Smoking, shooting, swallowing etc.. will have no difference on detection times.. nothing worth noting anyway.. the only difference between the bunch is how long it takes to get INTO your system.. once it's in there your body will metabolise the drugs in the same way.. no matter how they got there.

And I'm willing to bet No.. no diabetes doesn't make drugs more affective.

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

So smoking and taking and anti-depressant (SSRI) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) can speed up your metabolism? Smoking cigarettes also speed up your metabolism?

Also just a few more questions. Does the amount of time you hold in smoke (thc) have any bearing on the amount it leaves in your body? Say you take a quick hit and let it out compared to a hit you hold in as long as possible, does it make a difference?

Thank yoU!

One more quick question... sry can't edit my post.... or I don't see it.

How much of a difference would you say smoking good Marijuana compared to smoking very mediocre Marijuana make in the overall amount it will leave in your system?

Re: how long drugs stay in your system

I see you lost for chronic user the drugs can show longer. How long for a chronic user of opiates? It's been 4 days and I expected my drug test to be clean. It feels like forever.
