Weird ear sensations
sometimes when swim takes hydrocodone swims ears make a weird wooshin noise..not really ringing in the ears but like a heartbeat in the ears that last a couple of seconds. Any idea why this happens and if its the opiates causing it?

Re: Weird ear sensations
This often happens to SWIM when taking oxycodone. He can "make" it happen by doing a strange thing, hard to explain, kinda like tightening or pulling a muscle in his jaw, that he can feel near his lower ear area. He can still do this when not on opiates, but it doesnt cause the "whooshing" noise as prominently.
He's not sure the medical reason for this, but knows it has somthing to do with the opiates... Anyone have any medical input? |

Re: Weird ear sensations
not sure what causes this. however swim has heard numerous reports of people experiencing odd sounds on opiates. there is also a side effects in some people where they dont hear as well while on opiates. this has been known to happen mainly on hydrocodone and oxocodone. and once heard that heroin caused temporary deafness after an overdose

Re: Weird ear sensations
Red Rock gets this while on opiates as well but he can also make it happen while not on opiates. He has found though that he can make this sound happen without being on opiates as well

Re: Weird ear sensations
when NIK use to get presciptions for pain managment, the oxycodone would have the inside of one of my ears itch. I would always be having my finger in it trying to get it to stop.
I think its an allergy to the medicine . |

Re: Weird ear sensations
I sometimes actually get this side effect but I am on no medications whatsoever at the moment (somewhat unfortunately)!!!
It is most likely something to do with your blood pressure, well perhaps. Does it happen just after you have stood up suddenly etc? I doubt the side effect is dangerous but question a doctor. You could always ring a pharmacist or something over the phone, sometimes I do this. The ones at the major hospitals can be good. |
