Hello Amy my good friend (Amitriptyline)

SWIM told me to post this:

A friend of mine recently gave me some Amitriptyline. Id tried it before, but only when mixed with diazepam and marijuana, and I couldnt remember the effects of it. I started experimenting with dosages.

The pills were 50mg, strong stuff.

Experiences:

50mg -
I took one pill. It really takes a while to come up on these, and its hard not to get impatient and re-dose. The initial feeling is a sort of 'fuzz' in your brain. Your head feels like its soaring, and your whole body is filled with a pleasant numbness. CEVs were rare at this dose, but extremely vivid when they did happen. The visions felt a lot like DPH, in that it was a shock when you finally opened your eyes and you realise youre not actually flying through a city dressed as a marching band drummer. The sleep afterwards was very deep, and i didnt fully wake up for 21 hours after.

125mg -
I remember nothing. I remember coming up, but when I finally peaked, I was completely gone. I went to bed soon after and slept, slept slept.

25mg -
A good all round buzz, without most of the side effects that larger doses offer.

Re: Hello Amy my good friend.

From Wiki:
Quote:
Tricyclics have a narrow therapeutic index, i.e. the therapeutic dose is close to the toxic dose. In the medical literature the lowest reported toxic dose is 6.7 mg per kg body weight, ingestions of 10 to 20 mg per kilogram of body weight are a risk for moderate to severe poisoning, although doses ranging from 1.5 to 5 mg/kg may even present a risk. Most poison control centers refer any case of TCA poisoning (especially in children) to a hospital for monitoring.[3] Factors that increase the risk of toxicity include advancing age, cardiac status, and concomitant use of other drugs.[4] However, serum drug levels are not useful for evaluating risk of arrhythmia or seizure in tricyclic overdose.[5]
This is the reason that tricyclics have fallen out of favour in the medical community. Be careful with such experiments as they could quickly go bad.

Re: Hello Amy my good friend.

Mmmm.... "Good all round buzz"?

Possibly if one's monkey considers constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision, dry eyes, cotton mouth and a fuzzy head "recreational".

Not to mention the risk of cardiac arrythmias, need for intubation due to respiratory depression, and risk of seizures and death: particularly at the 500mg level, which is a significant overdose.

Tricyclics were largely superseded because of the risk of fatal overdose.

They're REALLY not ones to be playing around with
