i figured i start a topic where people can share the stupid drug myths they have hear over time
Here's some of the one's i have heard



"the reason you trip onLSD is becuase itmakes your brain bleed"
"SNort through ur left nostril it goes straight to the brain"
"Salvia melts ur brain"
"trip on acid 7 times and u go insane"

"take X 40 times and you're dead."



or something to that effect.

The only ones I can really think of right now, besides ones already mentioned, are:



"take (insert drug name here) once, and you're addicted"

"mushrooms make your stomach bleed"

I have another myth that is something like:

"If you look into a mirror during a trip you can get stuck / insane"

Actually I revised myself that this is a myth, because I had a really
heavy psychotic breakdown after staring at a mirror on acid. Took me
years to understand what happened.

But it s not the mirror that "causes" the problem, it was more the
confusion & thinking loops that you can also have on "normal"
rational thinking on acid. The mirror was just some kind of extra
topping on my already bad set & setting...kind of a trigger.

putting acid in your eye gets you way more high

it seems, that psychedelics are the best myth producers, right?

I was put off acid for ages because I didn't want it taking up permanent residence in my spinal column.

That's kinda true. Well, the tattoo thing is pure myth, but very pure LSD can soak through the skin. It's what happened to Hofmann the first time. Ask Erowid

"Staring at the sun on Acid can make you become blind"

That's also kinda true. Looking directly at the sun can burn your retinas and if you were on acid you might be too fascinated to look away. What's a myth is that t blinded four students in California in the 60s

Yes, Hofmann got his first trip without taking it into the mouth. But
we don't know for sure,...maybe he was inhaling some material or he was
putting his hands to the eyes, or he had a wound on his
fingers...whatever. We don't know. But you can't get it into your body
by laying blotters on your skin. Even a lot of them. I m pretty sure on
that, because I tried.



The blind myth is correct how you decribe it. But it can happen on any
drug inducing the lost of control over such behaviour...can even happen
on alc or weed (if you get your eyes opened that much for that long
time).

While not true of Psilocybin containing mushrooms, Amanitas contain significantly more alkaloids in their caps than their stems.



Now a few myths I have heard:



"LSD is stored permanently in fat, and when you burn the fat you have flashbacks"



"Marijuana causes brain damage"



"PCP is the same substance as formaldehyde"



"You can trip on bannana/peanut skins"

I can remember when i was in elementary school, the school district sent out warnings letters to our parents about someone handing out drug laced Blue star temporary tattoos. Another example of the brillant education system

Actually you're both wrong. Since much of swim's family is in, has been in, or has recently joined differant branches of the military, here is the facts -
you must admit to add past drug use
you will take a lie detector test
you will give a hair folical test
you will get a spinal test
you will get a u.a.

as long as you didn't lie about your drug use, and you are not trying to get a specialty position that required 110% fitness (such as a navy seal, or a marine special ops, or a army sniper, or plane pilot) you will be admitted even if you have done lsd in the past.

however, if you lie about it and are caught, you may not be allowed it, or depending on how far you are into basic training when they find out, you may be thrown into military prison for a year.

so bottom line, LSD use may prevent you from getting certain positions in the military; but as long as you admit to it you will be able to get most basic positions without a problem.

Well they have changed their policy then, that kid was trying to join
the marines and it stuck in memory because the recruiter was
mispronouncing peyote, the kid had to pronounce it for him and the kid
said yes to that. The recruiter said oh sorry all past drug use is a
disqualifier, buh bye.



LSD has a detection time in urine of 7-10 days, in hair up to 90 days,

both are utilized

Spinal tap would show nothing, LSD taking residence in your spinal
fluid is a myth besides the fact induction physicals do not include
spinal taps period.



Polygraphs are used only when seeking special clearance, not for basic training.

Are you sure about that? Erowid says 24-72 hours for urine. Hair is
correct, but it just depends of the length of your hair...even possible
to test for years. But as I know they do that (hair test) very very
rarely (at least in my homecountry) due to the fact that it is very
expensive.

yes, the heroin pills myth is a really really hard insisting one.
Although no drug testing result ever found heroin inside a pill and it
wouldn't make any kind of sense to do this, some people extremely
resist on this old joke. They forget fact that Exctasy is not just
stimulating substance but a empathogenic & slightly hallucinogenic
substance. For that reason the experience can also be a really quiet
and peacefully one.

Some guy told me that all the extasy you take in your life get's stored in your brain, and your brain holds it for about 10 years then releases all that extasy back into your system. And then you diecause of an overdose. That guy is full of shit!!
