Any scientific studies on the actual claimed Nootropic abilities of Nootropics?
I've been browsing the archives, and it struck me that although there are plenty of publications on nootropics they seem to be severely lacking in recent studies that actually verify their often claimed benefits in humans. Most of the studies I found were either really old, from the 70's or 80's, most of them were on rats and not humans, and most were very small sample sizes. And most were about pharmacological changes and brain scans, but not really testing their efficacy for their proported benefits.
I couldn't seem to find one publication for the most popualr nootropics like piracetam, aniracetam and oxiracetam that say they improve concentration, memory or intelligence in humans trials. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.
