old school stuff
Some dude that doesn't even really exist was just thinking about back in the day(for the dude, (one guesses mid 80's)) and how weed was purchased as nickel and dime bags. Cant really get into prices but one would get 5 grams in a nickel and 10 in a dime. Shortly therafter these became eighths and quarters and slowly went from 10 to 7 grams.
Just getting nastolgic. Would love to hear from some other "old timers ' on past experiences. Such as how stuff was purchased and what was gotton for what, how it may have been packaged, old terms or names, etc... Can swius talk about prices if it is past term? or literally in the past?

Re: old school stuff
Back in the 60's and 70's there was, what was called a 'lid', the amount that would fill the lid of a peanutbutter jar lid. Or at least there was if one is to believe Abby Hoffman.
The measurements of 'nickle','dime', and 'twenty' are still in use in ghetto areas. Not really any sort of standard measure, just what the guy wants to give you for the price. Seems to have a lot to do with economic class and color as to what you encounter. That is the higher the class, the more exacting the customer. |

Re: old school stuff
nicks and dimes are still terms widely used by some ppl, although a nick is .5grams-1grams, and based on the name, the price aint hard to figure out (it isnt a nickel tho), and a dime is 1-2 grams depending on whether it's high grade (1g) or mids (2gs).
There's also a "dub" in addition to the dime and nick, which is often 4 grams (mids); most ppl SWIM knos dont sell by the nick, dime, or dub but rather just a g (gram), eighth, quarter, half, etc.. |

Re: old school stuff
yeaa, in swim's area dime is still used real regularly, as slang for a gram. dont hear dime as often but most people dont buy weed in anything less then 1/8th is swims neck of the woods anyway
John Thompson added 0 Minutes and 48 Seconds later... dont hear nickel as much "" excuse the typo Last edited by John Thompson; 31-12-2008 at 19:42. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Re: old school stuff
Back in the day, they had four finger, three and two finger lids @ 5 bucks a finger. No fancy scales, make sixteen piles out of a pound and go from there. Swim remembers buying five pounds packaged in a large brown paper bag. The scales was a 2 foot steel rod with a five lb bag of flour on one end and the paper bag on the other.

Re: old school stuff
In the home country (New Zealand) of my pet dragon standards are tinnies 0.8 - 1.5, then half oz and oz. Also caps filled with goldie (honey oil) are common.
