SWIM says families can mean any number of things within the LSD community. Some families are just groups of people who get together and hang out in the same place once a year and listen to music and talk about the good ol days. Others are references to the groups of people who actually cook the LSD. Most references to the latter are just myths, but there are a few out there.

Since the Rainbow Family gatherings have been getting busted every year since '04 I doubt very much LSD is coming from them. The Brotherhood of Eternal Love was the first of these families if I'm not mistaken, fyi.
