Opinions - Calamus Root Advice?

So SWIM got 16oz of this root and had an experience on Halloween : handfuls mixed with syrian rue seeds throughout the night, peaked with slight warping visuals (as if SWIM was floating down a stream).

SWIM starts throwing up about 5hrs + first handful, continues to throw up and eventually dry heave till 4am where he manages to passout. SWIM had about 1-1.5 oz in total and maybe around 50 rue seeds. Was the nausea caused from the syrian accompaniment? SWIM was not really impressed with the effects at all, they were basically neutral...

Any suggestions encompassing all aspects of his intake? Even with Syrian SWIM didnt get much of a trip and the nausea all night was not fun (SWIM drove home with his head hovering over a bowl...)
