Morning Meditation

Help Swim get a morning meditation thread going.. post a morning meditation here. Every morning or when ever.

Not aa related or aa related..then post a swiys thoughts on the morning meditation.

December 14

Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.

-Langston hughes

Many of our dreams died as our addiction got worse. We felt the loss but couldn't speak it. With recovery, we regain our ability to dream. Dreams of sharing our lives with family and friends return. They push out thoughts of getting hihg. Dreams of pride and self respect reappear. The replace the awful feeling of shame. Like the quote above says. "hold fast to dreams..." Our dreams are our wishes for the future they hold a picture of who we want to be.

Swim really likes this one... Dreams are what really keeps him sober.. Whether is is his next material project or getting a degree they keep his mind from thinking about getting high...furthermore he also has friends now who he can share is dreams with before he got sober all his dreams no one cared about.. for example getting 20 morphine pills or some stupid shit.

thanks sc

Re: Morning Meditation

This Buddhist one (a simplified metta bhavana) really works for me, but it doesn't have to be Buddhist - it can be just about, well, life:

May all beings be free from enmity.
May all beings be free from ill treatment.
May all beings be free from troubles.
May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings protect their own happiness.
May all beings be happy.
May I be happy.
