Pharmacology - No effects from Amanita Muscaria var Muscaria

A couple of days ago SWIM tried one-third of 34 grams and got no more effcts than from a couple 5mg Valium(diazepam).
The thing is that SWIM drinks a little more than would should.
And he wonders if Amanita's is cross-tolerant with alcohol and benzodiapines, since both work on the GABA-receptors, allthough on differentl sub-units.

SWIM orderd the Amanita from his chosen ethnobotanical source, from which he has orderd potent(very) plants before, so he doesn't think he has been ripped off.

SWIM just wondered if any SWIMS have experienced tolerance to Amanitas due to to alcohol and benzodiapine tolerance.

SWIM has a pack of about 6 good sized caps left, he took 2 a while ago with Syrian Rue and didnt get much at all... pessimistic. SWIM was/is also taking benzos and an amphetamine and was becoming tolerant to benzos...

The theory sounds plausible but swim can't really comment coz he doesn't drink a great deal and only takes benzos every now and again.

Well if you think that your other habits are interfering with your experiments, might it not be a good idea to lay off the booze? Really now, it's not like there's any sort of strong recommendations for mixing booze, benzos, and psychedelics.

Amanita's do not have consistent alkaloid distribution, so it is possible to get mushrooms that will have no effects.

As for the Rue, while it mainly effects tryptamines, there are reports of other chemicals benefiting it, despite no solid evidence of action. As such, it isn't surprising that it didn't effect the amanitas.

It's a naturally occurring psychoactive, so it's bound to be highly variable. SWIM has had no discernible effects from 16 grams while there are reports on erowid.org of people having mystical experiences on half that. YMMV.

It's a bit hard to stop an alcholic dependence(usually 2-4 nights a week), and a once every 10 days he gets a bottle of 50 tablets 5mg diazepam, takes them in one gulp.

For drinking alcohol?

They all of their benefits and they all have their dangers. Individually they are one thing, on the other hand, most people who have mixed them, generally do not report the experience to be overly beneficial.

What are you trying to accomplish with this? If you wish to confront your demons, you would not want to go into it with dulled senses. If you're looking for mild entertainment, then there are other paths to find that. Frankly, mixing alcohol and benzos is risky, add in the potential deleterious effects of amanitas (which are not well tested in combination with either) and you could be looking at some rather adverse health effects.

So what are you trying to do here?

Swim is trying to get a breakthrough that will change his whole world, and face his demons as you said.
But Swim did not drink any alcohol, nor take any benzo's the day he took amanita.

This type of mushroom often needs to have a higher quantity for affect. SWIY should try taking a bit more next time. It is usually best to stay off any type of similar chemicals for around 2 weeks before consumption of said chemical. This way your are at a base level and will know that the said chemical is having the known results and not being interferred with by something that it shouldn't be. SWIY should try taking the other 2/3 of the Amanita and then report back. Up it slowly.

By all accounts it's one of the most variable drugs ever discovered or invented. Almost anything can happen or, just as likely, nothing much at all. As has happened most of the times SWIM's taken it, disappointingly...unless you count the time it appeared to make SWIM (temporarily) amazing at chess.
