TEK - Making Freebase went wrong?

Hey,

SWIM tried to make some freebase, but when he smokes it, it does not have any effect? What might went wrong?

This is how he did it, to 1/2 gram cocaine:

1) dissolved 1/2 gram in 30ml water
2) added ammoniak (12%) drop by drop
3) the solution turned white, he continued adding till no more perticipate was made
4) he added 10ml ether
5) shaked it, and let the water and ether seperate
6) got the ether of
7) let the ether evaporate

swim doesnt think swiy needs ether to make freebase just ammonia

it is to get the freebase out of the water...
freebase doesn't dissolve in water, but it does in ether, so it is easy to get the base out with the ether

Swiy doesnt need ether... Just add the ammonia until it stops precipitating let the crystals settle then filter and let dry.

I think SWIY may have followed the process incorrectly.

You should not have to use ANY ether for this process

When I read the information on this process, it was my understanding that you add the ammonia until the solution no longer paints a "whiter" color, but just stays the same, and at that point you STOP adding ammonia and just keep stirring until the solution starts to go back to it's clear color.

When it clears up, you're supposed to add more ammonia in the same way; it's just a process that has to be repeated several times over.

The stuff that sticks to your stir-stick and the edge of the glass is supposed to be "cut", while the flakes that float to the bottom are freebase flakes.

I think you're supposed to repeat this process until the point when adding more ammonia will no longer cause the water to cloud-up and "paint white".

At that point, I think it's probably ready to be filtered.

SWIM thinks maybe SWIY didn't add enough ether to pull all the base out of the ammonia solution.

SWIM have done this with petroleum ether in a vial, and have posted my method to the Making Cocaine freebase with ammonia methods thread

SWIM uses the same quantity of petroleum ether as SWIM does of the ammonia solution (30ml water/amonia and 30mil petroleum ether) and re-add petroleum ether 2 more times to ensure all soluble base is extracted from the water/ammonia layer.
