Failed poppy pod tea
SWIM plans on making flake from most of his pods, but felt it would be a good plan to get an idea of the feeling of opium before starting.
He roughly ground up 14g of material (couldnt use a blender, so the pods were chopped into roughly 5mm square chunks) into just over 1/2 pint of water. A squirt of lemon juice was added to reduce the PH slightly (tested water the other day, not much was needed). He then heated the liquid to 60 degrees and held it between ~55-65 for 10 minutes. The liquid was strained while still warm through a coffee filter. The first thing that struck SWIM as strange was the colour, rather than a dark liquid that most people describe, he was left with a golden yellow liquid, still quite translucent. Also the taste, quite similer to a woody tea, nothing too strong. He split it into 2 1/4 pint doses, planning on taking one, then another later if needs be. He drank the first (~7g worth) over the period of 5 - 10 minutes and waited. 30 minutes later he wasn't feeling anything, so quickly drank all of the second batch. an hour later, still not feeling any effects so SWIM gave up and went to bed. **note - these were bought from a reputable vendor, given to SWIM by a regular user of pod tea** What SWIM thinks he did wrong - Didn't grind up the pods properlly - Didn't leave to boil for long enough SWIM doesn't really want to waste more pods on this TEK, so will just be extracting the opium from here on in. Just a heads up to any swimmers planning on brewing their first batch, don't do what SWIM did
