Unhappy Possible medical emergency?

OK. swim's not sure what is really going on right now, and not sure if this is the right place to post this...

sorry for bad grammar or anything but swim's really feeling bad.

yesterday swim parachuted about ten grams of poppy straw, done many times before, and had a bad reaction. He went into the bathroom and may not have thrown up but his stomach was hot as iron and very painful. This cleared after about ten minutes and he felt fine.

today he took a little more straw straight down early this morning and was fine. then at 3pm he decided to take some cactus, something he had never done before. he parachuted (!) about ten grams of peruvanius.

about two hours later he was outside a storefront with a friend and he vomited quite a bit. He thought this was to be expected, and everything looked "normal" in his vomit. he started to trip.

he tripped ok for about six hours but his stomach grew increasingly queasy and sensitive. after coming home he took a tums; that didn't help, so he took pepto. then he tried an aspirin for his bastard of a headache, really killer headache; bad mistake. then he had to go into the bathroom and vomit again. This time, there was blood in his vomit. He threw up a bunch of brown shit which he probably would not have identified as blood, then near the end of the reaction he vomited very painfully and there was a 2-3 tablespoons of fairly bright, red blood.

He felt a bit better but still extremely dizzy and had a horrible spike of a headache, a really bad headache. he went upstairs very disoriented and fell into a dazed sleep for about 3-4 hours.

Now he woke up about 12 hours after ingestion, still very weak, dizzy, stumbling, not clear-headed, etc. very nauseated. he is afraid if he tries to vomit he will see more blood so he has drank a lot of ice water (he was extremely dehydrated).

his dad is a nurse and swim knows his dad would freak out if swim told him he vomited fresh blood.

anybody got any practical advice, besides possible the emergency room? sit still, drink water, think good thoughts? it must be said just typing in his experience was almost enough to make him sick again.

please, someone, can I get some practical advice? is there something I can take or do I just need to "ride this out"?

Re: Possible medical emergency?

The emergency room would be the best ! But swim never went... The other option id make sure swiy is hydrated, eats healthy, food, rest, etc.. And good luck !! But if.. Phone the ambulance !! Maybe ask a friend to be with you ?

Sorry, swim has no experience with cactus. Cant really give any good advice other that swiy doesn't want.

Re: Possible medical emergency?

swim has had a few experiences with mescaline, never had the vomiting blood.

the best thing is to stay calm keep drinking water, dont make the water too cold, if the urge to vomit remains just do so. if there is still blood no matter how faint swim would advise to go see medical help

Re: Possible medical emergency?

SWIM isnt a doctor. That could be a stomach bug, allergic reaction or god kno9ws what. SWIM would recommend a doctor. SWIMs own personal experiences with avoiding the doctor have usually made things worse.

Re: Possible medical emergency?

Since SWIY is describing the blood as bright red, thats not too terribly of a bad thing. What more than likely happened is SWIY went to vomit (really hard apparently) and maybe got a small tear somewhere in SWIY esophagus or stomache. This isn't uncommon and has happened to SWIM before. Rest, hydration, easy meals = healing. If SWIY continues to vomit blood then SWIM would go to ER immediately though.

Hey! My vomit does that too!

(if the light heartedness didn't get the point across the above description just sounds like a normal description of vomit containing amounts of blood. Every time my raver friend vomits for one reason or another, it always contains some amount of blood. He'll add that the brown part at the end of the description tastes really bitter on its way up and he always supposed it as bile).

Re: Possible medical emergency?

you said that you "parachuted" the peruvianus cactus...when I was in school "parachutes" were a method of smoking weed...did you mean you smoked the cactus? Because I always thought mescaline was heat sensitive like LSD and is destroyed by high heat, making it impossible to smoke. I tried smoking half a gram of peruvianus once when I was youger and dumber (in a country where it is legal) and felt dizzy and a bit nauseous...I would imagine smoking 10 grams of Peruvianus would produce effects like you describe. Im not a doctor tho. I would go to emerg if its bad.

Re: Possible medical emergency?

Parachuting is wrapping in a paper towel or tissue and swallowing. Whole dried peruvianus cactus can be very hard on the digestive tract, particularly if there was skin or spines accidentally mixed into the powder. SWIM is leary of mail order cactii powder and would rather have a plant to work with. SWIM thinks medical attention is a good idea and absolutely no aspirin which can make the bleeding worse.
A better strategy with cactus powder is to extract it first into acidified water and filter out the solids.

Re: Possible medical emergency?

Opiates and mescaline do not mix. SWIM had an experience similar to this. SWIM ingested a low dose of poppy tea and about 250-300mg mescaline sulfate. The idea was that the poppy tea might keep me calm as SWIM always experiences extreme anxiety and paranoia on mescaline. This resulted in constant vomiting for 26 hours. SWIM got that brown stuff in his puke too but no blood. SWIM thinks this happens because opiates stimulate the vomiting center of the brain and mescaline produces pretty severe nausea on top of this. SWIM recovered fully as I'm sure SWIY has probably too. Moral of the story, don't mix drugs unless you're sure they don't interact in a negative way.

Re: Possible medical emergency?

Its pretty likely that you just got a scratch/cut/abrasion on your throat or esophagus, but you should still keep an eye out and watch to see if it continues. Cold cold water should help as it will help the blood vessels restrict. Keep yourself to a pretty much liquid diet for a day or two, this is so you can let it heal and dont re rupture it just when it closes.

If you start getting severe stomach cramps or pain, pass blood through stool that is like red currant jelly, or throw up the same, its time to go to the ER for evaluation.
