Janus has always just got high off street drugs. That was easy. Now after a year of sobriety from moving to a new town and having no connections Janus has turned to legal drugs. Janus bought some wormwood extract thinking when he was ready to use it he could easily do a quick google search and obtain guidance. Janus finds no usable info. Luckily the stuff was not expensive, and smells really good, but Janus is afraid to ingest any portion of the stuff in any manner because he doesn't want to murder himself. If your garden gnome knows how Janus might best utilize this substance, please have the gnome respond to this thread. Thanks!

Re: Wormwood, Help?
SWIM had ordered a decent amount of Damiana//Wormwood 25X resin from a reputable vendor one time but they sent him the wrong thing (only problem I ever had with this vendor). Instead he got just 10X Wormwood resin. He sent them an E-mail and they shipped him the correct product free of charge and allowed him to keep the old. SWIM was unsure of what to do with just the plain Wormwood resin. He sprinkled some on some herbs and smoked it but it produced no noticeable effect. He tried this a second time as well but still to no avail. He decided maybe he should mix the rest of the extract in with some Bacardi 151. He poured some shots for himself and mixed in a little of the resin in each shot until he used up the rest of it. He really didn't notice anything other than the usual effects from alcohol.
Later the Wormwood/Damiana resin came in the mail. SWIM used this in combination with some different smoking herbs and it had quite a pleasant taste but unfortunately he did not notice any effects. SWIM has never had true Absinthe so he can not say anything anout that, but as far as Wormwood or Thujone on it's own - SWIM got nothing from and it has been highly disputed whether or not Thujone really does produce notable psychoactive effects. SWIM just thought he would share his experience even though there was not much to tell. |

Thanks for sharing. That's about the only story Janus finds anywhere. Janus will continue his research and update drugs forum with any findings...

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Wormwood's magic is in Dreaming. Expect very minor effects after it is smoked or ingested. Taken an hour or two before sleep is where the real magic is. Dreams are extremely intense. Very easy to lucid dream Swim doesnt find the extract necessary. Swim finds that simply buying wormwood foliage and making a tea works great.
Lou1024 added 3 Minutes and 10 Seconds later... To answer swiy dosage question: If swiy wishes to be extra safe, simply buy the foliage and fill a teaball full. The reported medical problems from wormwood have been from the extracted liquid. If swiy uses the foliage, he has little to worry about, and will have mind blowing lucid dreams. Thats right! SWIM forgot about this! He uses Mugwort which has very similar effects on dreaming. The Mugwort works very well and one does not even have to ingest it. SWIM used to keep an ounce of it tied up in cheesecloth in his pillowcase (with his pillow of course) and his dreams were absolutely amazing! Very visually clear and 3 dimensional. Sometimes they were a little scary. He has not really had any "nightmares" from it but they seemed so clear he just felt weird after waking up sometimes. He still has it but hasn't used it in a while. SWIM has never actually used Wormwood for dreaming as when he had the extract he forgot about it. But he has read that Wormwood and Mugwort are quite similar. He knows they both contain Thujone and he remembers reading that Mugwort was also used as an ingredient in Absinthe. |

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Rad! Janus will experiment with resinous wormwood extract in pillow and report findings.

Re: Wormwood, Help?
You are sure this isn't "essential oil", right? If it is, it may not be safe for experimentation. Nobody's never heard of wormwood "extract" and just wanted to make sure.
Even if it is, the bitterness must be beyond belief. Nobody likes bitter, and even they couldn't stomach wormwood. |

Get the foliage and put it in a tea ball, or if you hate bitter things, simply buy 10:1 wormwood in capsule form from a vendor. The pillow thing isn't going to work past placebo. Swim recommends getting the capsules for an easy dreaming experience. |

Saving it would be a good idea, since if it really is 100 years old, I would think it would be worth a lot as an antique. Swiy should have kept the bottle as well. |

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Dude likes extract in pillow. It smells good, dreams yes, more strange than usual? Questionable. Will not ingest extract, possibly burn as incense or offering. Strange that no authoritative conclusions can be found about thujone. If known, please direct to source...

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Janus should check erowid experience vaults for all the info on all types of mind altering substances that he may be curious about, including wormwood. Not meant to be spam, just saying that he said he searched and was not able to find much info, but I have found info on it on erowid. (it's not commercial either it's educational charity)

Re: Wormwood, Help?
swim says it works satisfactory. Remember that the magic of wormwood is in dreaming. Many people try to find other effects during a waking state due to its connection with Absinthe. This is not the case. Swim recommends the tea, as hard as it is to drink, if swiy is looking for a true experience. Smoking extract along with it wont hurt either.

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Hard to drink? This is a serious understatement. Nobody likes bitter, grew up eating lots of wild greens, wormwood, that's a whole new level of bitter. Had a homebrew absinthe a few years ago, it would trash your pallet well into the next night, everything you ate was washed out by the lingering bitters. Tried cooking with the stuff, never found ANYTHING that would hide the taste, nothing would make it any better.
Some of the wost tasting stuff EVER! |

Re: Wormwood, Help?
Very true, swim also has never found one thing that helped kill the taste; put sugar in it, it becomes bitter sugar etc... Reminds swim of that bible quote:
“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.” If swiJanus decides to try the tea, do report back on the experience. Re: Wormwood, Help?
Oh yeah, killer dreams! Tentacles and cyclopian towers, very vivid, fully lucid, reported back all drinkers of the stuff. Quite a few had no previous knowledge of what they were being given.

SwiPotter, have you tried the capsulized wormwood extract yet? Swim has yet to try it and wonders at how effective it is.
