Experiences - Under-estimated Salvia First Trip

My lab-rat wrote the following trip report and asked me to share it with you:

I recently acquired some very high quality salvia 20x extract (I had never done salvia before, but many other psycadelics). I have a small bong at home which I decided to use. I had done a lot of reading and research on salvia prior to trying it, and take it from me no amount of reading can prepare you for what is about to happen. It is a MUST to have a sitter with you for your first trip, you have people saying it is an urban myth or whatever but believe me, you will need one. Pick someone you can be comfortable around and explain to them what is going to happen and that no matter what happens NOT to panic, if they panic your trip will be extremely horrible. I cannot stress this enough, please DO NOT under-estimate salvias power. She will tear your perception of reality to pieces if you abuse her. Just to emphasise the point further, I’ll say it again DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE SALVIA.

Ok, so here we go. I took my bong and packed out the bowl thinking it has be a mild trip seeing as, at the end of the day its legal right? What a mistake that was, my sitter helped me light the salvia, we used two normal lighters. I milked the whole bowl, and then in one huge inhalation took it all in. I held it in for what felt like 15-20 seconds, then I was gone.

I remembering exhaling as I closed my eyes, then reality was no more, I ceased to exist. I had a feeling that I was part of a finger that was tearing away at the edge of the universe. I had no control, my brain intermediately kicked in and said, this can't be real; I am a person I exist. But it was to no avail, salvia brushed the thoughts away like dust. I was back into this tearing of the universe. A very repetitive motion, but I was scared, why was this happening, WHAT was happening? I had read about letting yourself go to salvia, and not resisting, but I feared the worst. The hit I had taken was uncontrollable. I opened my eyes and saw my room and sitter there very faded, but again I was pulled back in to salvia world. Panic had set in at this stage, I decided to try very hard to let go because resisting was making it feel horrible. Instantly I was back again, at the edge of a realm unknown to me, not as a person, but as some sort of entity or presence. The place I was in was slowly being ripped away with me in it, this was the scariest part, having the feeling of not existing, but on top of that the feeling being wiped out again.

I had to get out, I opened my eyes and got up off the bed, It didn't feel right, half of the room felt like it was not real, like where I was standing was reality, and then the other half of the room was just surreal and didn't exist, along with my sitter. My movements where slow and I could barely control them, I almost fell over. I felt terribly hot and like I had just come out of the shower which I had taken fully clothed, I was drenched in sweat.

I tried to shake it off, but salvia was just too powerful, I ended up back on the bed, closing my eyes. Again I was back in this alternate dimension, which by now there was very little left of as it was now ever so slowly being ripped away. As I saw this repetitive motion (extremely difficult to explain), I was really starting to panic now, it felt so real. My sitter began to talk to me, re-assuring me he was there and I slowly began to come back to reality. Finally it was gone; I sat up on the bed, and had a feeling of sheer awe. I couldn't believe what had just happened, I was so happy to be back in reality and to actually have the feeling of existing. I know I'm probably babbling on a bit but the experience really blew me away.

This review was written not to scare you, more to educate you, so that if you do decide to try this magnificent plant, you will treat it with the respect it deserves.

I would strongly suggest you start with the plain leaf, or 5x extract, taking a small dose just to see what you are in for. As for me, while I was left shaken by the whole experience, I will definitely be trying Salvia again in strict moderation as I wish to further explore this realm, hopefully this time in a more controlled manner. If you have read all the way to this stage, I hope you found my experience interesting to read, and useful to you in someway. I guess all that's left to say is.. Salvia...

this part of the trip is interesting. swim has a friend who described his first trip on salvia very much like this. well, first his couch turned into stewie from family guy and a desk turned into bert (bert & ernie) but after that sounds much like swiy's trip. he described a hand coming in at the edge of his vision and tearing away his reality. this happened multiple times, each time the hand ripped away whatever dimension he was in and he found himself in a completely different place.

Swiys trip was very much like Swims, Exept swims was like photos shooting past his eyes, And they were pictures from the whole of his life, And if swim didnt pick the right 1 he would be sent on a totally different course, Swim grabbed hold of the present picture to escape from the salvia world, but as he did the salvia was to strong and dragged him back, was a scary but interesting experience swim shall def try again interesting read

Swim can either take or leave Salvia- Swim will only really delve into it's world when he is feeling brave (or on occasions silly). Sometimes its enlightening, sometimes it's harrowing- it's the randomness of the encounter that puts him off-interesting non the less but a little too uncontrolable for Swim although i do appreciate people get on amazingly well with it though. Interesting reports though..!

1) The 'WHOA!' reaction.
2) Identification as an inanimate object (Albeit a finger)

Do I have to "Swim" even though salvia is perfectly legal where I live? Just a little confused about this.

Yes. Because the staff doesn't have time to verify where each member lives and what the drug laws are there (and drug laws continually change), self-incrimination isn't permitted for Ethnobotanicals just as it isn't permitted for universally illicit substances.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, it shall be done from now on. Swim will be experimenting with different amounts of salvia over the next few days to try and understand its somewhat bizarre effects.

when SWIM had salvia for his first time man he tripped out like a biatch, room felt like it was a giant book closing in on him and it was inevtiably going to jolt down on him. he took the hit, remembered the bong, and woke up hugging the sofa like it would save him from this giant book.

salvia is a crazy thing and swim wouldnt rate it that highly, he was on his own which he must have mildy underestimated the importance of. Swim hasnt done a hit like the first since and if swin relaxes and embraces salvia,will he enjoy and control it? or is headwork always out of the question.

Swims first hit made him think he was gonna die at the time. crazy. anyways, whats the word? does salvia have potential to be a nice recreational drug or is it just a quick easy legal headfook.??

No recreational value in SWIMs opinion. Just a strange and interesting hallucinogenic experience with some sweating.

Salvia where I live is sold in a nearby shop, and swim has never tried salvia before, and is going to jump in the deep end with 40x, cant wait, the potency of this drug sounds off the hook considering its as legal here as a can of beer!

Actually, beer production, distribution, and consumption is regulated and therefore Salvia is in fact more legal than alcohol.

Yeah where i live the shop sells salvia to, Swim Jumped into the deep end with 40 x and had a hell off an experience, its on the forum in the experience thread, what will swiy be using to smoke the sally ?

He will most probaly use a water bong as swim hears the smoke can be quite harsh on the throat.

In fact, the smoke is not harsh on the throat at all. I'm not sure but, wouldn't using a water bong reduce the effects of Salvia. As the smoke would cool down before reaching swiys lungs?

Actually Salvia smoke is the smoothest swim has ever smoked (Almost as much as high purity meth-a). If you can hold a bud hit in then Salvia is no problem. It does however cause an exhale reflex that is nigh impossible to suppress when it kicks (And if it does then you've got enough to jump the fence). Still, Bong makes the Salvia much more effeective and for this reason is a much better choice. Don't forget a torch lighter!

mmk so it was swims 1st time smoking salvia, didnt really know what to expect only had gone off hearsay from others and had heard so many diff opinions and experinces that swim felt it was time to just man up, try it himself, and see what happens...a friends of his had gone to a headshop and bought the most expensive salvia they had "level 6" on the bakc of the box and 120x was the extract cost him about xx$ for a gram or somehting like that....an unmeasured amount was thrown into the bowl of a tall ADS water pipe the bowl was packed to the brim..swim used a butane lighter cherried the shit out of it and held in the hit...before even breathing it out swim found himself in an odd state of mind...like being in a dark room with no body..everything was blackness, and swim had this distinct understanding that nothing existed, nothing ever has and nothing ever will exist...even though swim was having these conscious thought he knew he didnt exist in a physical form...soon after swim was back in the room he had taken the bong rip with about 4 friends watching swim was sitting on a couch immediately a force pushed down on swim unbearably hard he looked down and his legs were merging intot he couch he tried to lift his head and looked at the tv the black outline of the TV were squiggled lines but the picture remained normal the legs merging with the couch thing scared him and he wanted to get up swims freinds later told him that swim had said the couch was burning hot and he had to get off it and as he looked at the tv the thought going thru his head was that "wow this is all going on in swims head and he cant deal with it and this bitch on tv is talking about acne meds and shit like that HOW REDICULOUS that she could be talking about something so unimportant while swim was going thru this experience!!" that made swim really angry and he began to curse at the TV swim stood up and the poepl looking at him literally split in half came full circle and went back together pinz and needles x1000 shot thru his entires body so painful he got up off the couch and yelled out CANADA!! according to his friends then he began to scream in pin from the pinz and needles feeling and fell to tthe floor begging for this to stop then swim went to another reality even with eyes oopen he was not in his friends rooms any more he was int he clouds giant gears were turning and revolving all aoround him ( meanwhile the pain is still there) swim kept trying to get up but kept falling and reverted to crawling he crawled his way over to his friends closet screaming for the effects to dissapate his sense of touch must have become hypersensitive all air felt like it was laced with needles even the air he was breathing VERY UNCOMFORTABLE now with the gears in the cloudds the days of the week began to repeat. monday tuesday wednesday etc with all this circular motion and circular themes when it finally got to SUNDAY the "crazy part" of the trip ended he was now laying in his friends closet Swim repeated over and over he will never ever do this again never smoke salvia never never again he was still under the influence b/c he went and looked at his pupils in the mirror and they were still quite dialated for the next 10-15 mins he had the opposite of euphoria (SO MUCH ANXIETY), was dreenched in sweat and traumatized by the whole experinece....but the more swim thinks about his experinece the more he wants to smoke salvia again BUT DEF NOT 120X WITH A BUTANE LIGHTER can anyone explain why he mgihtve been in such physical pain it was really a deterrent from embracing the positive and wondrous effects of the trip and is alittle scared that even a smaller extract and dose would bring back that pins and needles feeling was that feeling a fluke? do tohers have the same problem? why did he feel this pain? will a lower extract or dose ensure that the pain wont return next time he decides to try this...??? keep in mind the pain was the main reason his trip sucked he LOVES the psychedelic exprience but the pain is not worth it...

He usually doesn't get preachy about people using such plants for recreational purposes, but he feels that salvia is one that perhaps people simply have no business using for kicks. Salvia is strong medicine. It's not a pleasant experience. He would say if it is unpleasant and you have no real reason to subject yourself to it, don't. There are plenty of other substances that are psychedelic and pleasant.
But that's just my crazy monkey's thoughts on the matter.

SWIM agrees, he got strong pschedelic and antidepressant (that lasted up to a month) qualites from plain Salvia leaves.
