Unhappy Extremely Adverse Effects

SWIM has taken adderall twice before this incident. The only pills available to SWIM are 30 mg Adderall XR.

The previous experiences, SWIM only took a single 30 mg dose each time. However, yesterday SWIM really needed to get alot of school work done, so he started by taking 1 30mg xr. Then about 4 hours later, he decided to take another. And then at midnight he took yet another. During that night, SWIM didn't really experience any adverse effects other than an inability to get to sleep.

However, when morning came around, SWIM found himself almost fainting every time he stood up. His heart was beating rapidly, and he was experience heart palpatations as well. Despite this, SWIM went to school and only felt a little sick. At about noon, though, SWIM started to experience the rapid pulse/palpatations and started hallucinating as well. Everything was moving and squiggling around like on a low dose of acid, and SWIM was also experiencing some odd thoughts. These lasted until about 2. Then SWIM was hit by some incredible naseua.

As of now, SWIM still feels very naseous and still has not returned to a normal heartbeat (although it is getting much better).

Why the incredibly aweful effects, and why are they still affecting me the day after? Did I overdose? Help please!

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

A base head I once knew (speed addict from the Uk) says that one must eat on these types of drug. The hallucinations were partly due to excess dopamine in the wrong part of the brain at the wrong time. This can make you feel spacey and floaty, as would the non use of food during the period the speed was taken.

Y says, he knows the OP isnt a speed addict, but the symptoms described ring true for these types of dopaminageric stimulant drugs.

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

Thanks for the replies, feeling much better now.

Would it be safe for me to take a single 30mg XR now that two days have passed since I last dosed?

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

Ovadose: The title of your post says it all. Everyone reacts differently to medication - some people are more sensitive than others. Based on your descriptions, I can see that you are extremely susceptible to Adderall. I'm not a doctor, but I suggest you speak with one before taking any more. It's a controlled substance for a reason. Taken as directed and responsibly, it can be very useful to people with ADD, but it should not be used periodically to help you study if you don't have a prescription. Take care of yourself.

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

Many juices are very acidic. The absorption rate of Adderall is slowed in an acidic environment so mixing the beads with juice will probably lessen the effects of it. If SWIy wants to mix it with juice, SWIM recommends taking an antacid with it to counteract this effect.

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

SWIM's experienced this twice before firsthand. Once on 120mg., then 150mg. This is just a crash, no overdose.

Overdose occurs during the effects of psychoactive drugs, not after. OD from hard stimulants usually results in some form of coronary failure (such as heart attack or stroke). The sudden absence of their presence (withdrawal) can create psychological hell.

Here are some of the symptoms that frequent SWIM's crashes:
1) extreme irritability
2) extreme apathy
3) physical and mental exhaustion
4) paranoia
5) nausea

The hallucinations experienced by SWIY sounds like the on-set of a condition known as amphetamine psychosis. The name is FAR more serious than the ailment, however it requires attention. Simply taking a break from amphetamines for a period of time (I'd suggest two weeks to a month), can make symptoms fade completely. However, continued amphetamine abuse after these warning signs are noticed may result in the development of full-blown amphetamine psychosis, which is extremely similar to paranoid schizophrenia. The drug-induced psychosis is temporary and will fade as soon as drug use ceases, but certainly not a desirable experience.

Again.. no OD here. SWIY is fine.

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

Swim has had a long history with aderall. Swim remembers one week where he was using aderall every day in order to job hunt quicker. He didn't sleep the whole time, and ate very very little. To add on to that, he was driving a car with no brakes or insurance. So swim was a little out of it after the first three days. Also, swim was very stupid looking back lol.

But yeah, swim would take at least 150mgs everyday, and preferably around 200-250. Swims heart felt like it was going to explode at the end of the week when swim finally crashed. The palpitations where nonstop since day 1, so swim assumed them to be a normal side affect especially with such high amounts and no sleep or nourishment.
Swim would suggest never trying such a thing.

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

Alright... I'll take it slow.

As I said before, alls I have are 30mg XR's. I really don't want to get high, I just wanted to get this research paper done. Whats a good studying dose, and can I open the pill and just take some of it instead of all of it?

Also I've heard that fruit juice decreases the absorbtion, could I keep some juice near by just in case I start to 'flashback' again?

Re: Extremely Adverse Effects

SWIM went on a binge with his Adderall XR script for some reason. SWIM took all 30 of his Adderall XR 30mg capsules in 24 hours which is 900mg of amphetamine. SWIM has a high tolerance for amphetamines but he did hallucinate alot and was hearing voices.

SWIM decided to start watching porn and he continued to watch his porn videos for 12 hours straight until the sun came up. SWIM could not believe he had hyper-focused on three porn movies for 12 hours!

SWIM decided that he should let his roommate hold his Adderall script so he would never be tempted to do that again. SWIM noticed that his roommate was acting very strangely one night but thought nothing of it at the time.

The next morning SWIM's roommate accused SWIM of doing cocaine all night and being very loud. He said that he could here SWIM doing lines and that SWIM had gone out twice to get more coke.

SWIM knew he had done no such thing and had gone to bed and slept all night and was very shocked to be accused of this activity.
Later that afternoon SWIM's roommate appologized to SWIM and admitted that he had taken all of SWIM's Adderall over the past 2 days! He was hallucinating the whole time and hearing people doing coke and talking about him outside his closed bedroom door.

Adderall is a powerful stimulant it seems.
