How is Ma-Huang tea made?

Can anyone tell me which part of the Ma-Huang plant is used (root, leaves, stems, etc.)?

Re: How is Ma-Huang tea made?

This shouldn't be in amphetamines, I'm fairly sure most of the plant contains ephedrine, Use the Search engine for Ephedra, and i'm sure you'll find plenty more.

yes absolutely, the term ma huang refers to Ephedra sinica, which is a source of ephedrine, as is Sida cordifolia

Yes, it has, but mostly in people that had heart deficits and where abusing the drug. Ephedra was used as a weight loss drug and performance drug for many years and the US industry sold bizarre amounts of concentrated supplements. While these supplements where fun for occasional use, they surely where not fitted for daily heavy use. And that's where accidents happened. Even while a number of deaths happened, it should be noted that the number of users was very large as well. One of the most well known death, was of a baseball player that dropped dead on the field. he was using heavy doses of ephedra supplements combined with other supplements and a heart deficit, while playing top sport.

Sida cordifolia has mostly pseudo-ephedrine, which is similar, but not the same. Both plants are closely related.

To answer your question: Ma-Huang is fairly potent and can be used for herbal tea. Just add water and let it soft for a while. It tastes good.

Re: How is Ma-Huang tea made?

All the upper parts are potent, leaves, stems, and flowers. You can also grind it up and capsule it.
