Refilling somebody else's bottle

Today swim did some business and needed an extra bottle to hold extra pills. Now swim's friend gave him an empty bottle of lorazepam for the extras. As she was doing this she mentioned that she had an extra refill on the bottle. Being a dumbass and not taking her to the pharmacy right away swim just left with all the fresh green he just made. Now swim was wondering if he could actually get the bottle filled himself. Our local pharmacy lets family members pick up each other's prescriptions and even husbands pick up thier wives' and swim thinks care givers too if they know them on a personal basis. If swim said that he was there to refill the bottle for his girlfriend or cousin do you guys think this could work out? Swim's totally against prescription fraud but this would be just picking up somebody's medication for them right? Does anybody have any info on this?

Re: Refilling somebody else's bottle.

Swim's cats have all been able to get him Oxycodone (Oxycontin), clonazepam (Klonopin), and Metadate CD (methamphetamine i think?), etc. (in the USA) whenever Swim is not able to pick them up. BUT, all of my cats have thier own records in the same pharmacy as Swim, with the same home address and telephone number, and when they go pick it up, they are asked for Swim's name, and then they are asked to give their name too, and give phone number or address to prove relationship. (Walgreens...)

Swim has also picked up in numerous ocassions the pain medication for his dying grandcat's friend. Grandpa cat just called asking what info someone representing him might need to pick his medication. Swim recommends just inquiring (at another location of the same pharmacy chain) what info a person needs to know to pick up Swiy's medication (and tag a reasonable explanation like getting your wisdom tooth out soon and having no family members in the area.)

Swim doesn't know if this is the way it works everywhere (I'm assuming it might vary state by state). But this would be consider prescription fraud with the intentions Swiy has since that somebody has no idea you are getting the Rx for them.

Re: Refilling somebody else's bottle.

In SWIM's area, basically anyone can pick up anyone else's filled scripts, but the picker-upper(whomever it is) has to sign for it. And keep in mind, all pharmacies will have surveillance equiptment.

SWIM always did wonder about the risk with this lack of security, and he wonders what the process would be if the following happened:

"A" dropped off a script and the next person in line "B" overheard "A" tell the pharmacist their name and info, and that he was going to have "C" come pick it up. "B" went ahead and did his normal reason for being there, and then went back out in the car and told "D" that they were going to wait an hour(for "A"'s script to be filled) and then "D" is to go in and tell them he's there to pick up "A"'s script...he does so, and signs the pickup form with any random phony name, "E", and pays in cash. Then a few minutes later, "C" comes in and asks for "A"'s script. The pharamcist would know/see that it was already picked up by "E"(per the form).

What would the pharmacist do?

Thats a good question. I would imagine they would review the security tapes and any other surveillance they have and then possibly turn it over to the police if they can prove that "D" guy was phony and not the person that A authorized to pick up his script

Re: Refilling somebody else's bottle.

Someone I know refilled his aunt's bottle of vicodin and he got caught with the empty bottle later, and he got charged with a 5th degree possesion, a felony, even though he didn't have a single pill on him, they were all gone.
