Please Help! Really Difficult to treat Depression and Social Anxiety
SWIM has been on a lot of SSRI's and none of them seem to work. In fact, SWIM is one of the few people who have inverse reactions to SSRIs(terrible anxiety and panic attacks). The ones swim has tried are: paroxetine (Paxil), fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft) and trazadone. The only one that helps a little is venlafaxine (effexor) which may work since it is an SNRI with some effects on dopamine at high dosages.
*Any suggestions for an anti-depressant with non-traditional mechanisms (i.e. NOT seratonin)? Tried bupropion (wellbutrin) but SWIM had an allergic reaction. Also tried MAOI.
Secondarily, SWIM suffers from social anxiety. Obviously, SWIM has already stated that anti-depressants typically make the anxiety worse, rather than better. Benzos do NOTHING for SWIMs anxiety. Yeah, it's weird. Taken 15+ pills of valium (NOT RECOMMENDED) and felt nothing except a little tired. Additionally, Benzos make SWIM feel depressed. SWIM believes that SWIM's mind cannot tell the difference between feeling sedated and depressed, though SWIM really isn't sure.
Obviously, these disorders require more than simple medication. SWIM has worked hard on changing his thought processes and also exercises regularly.
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? SWIM would love some help since he's feeling frustrated... Thanks!
