Smile Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

okay so my friend found a bottle of "Oxycodone/Acetam*** Tab 5-325MG"

and so we're just wondering the effects of of Acetaminophen on OxyCodone.
all we can really get from it is that Acetaminophen is another not so strong pain killer.
from Wikipedia it tells us that Acetaminophen decreases the chance of abusing oxycodone
and we're wondering why and is this true and other effects Acetaminophen on OxyCodone.

thanks
:]

Re: Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

yeah, those are still abusible. Acetaminophen (APAP is its comon abreviation) is tylenol, and it has been proven to be hemotoxic in high doses or for habitual use.

If SWIY is concerned, look up some info about cold water extractions. Personally, SWIM is not tolerant enough to merit use of one so he knows little about it

if anything, APAP potentiates the oxycodone, but it likely does nothing to alter its psychological effects. SWIM wouldn't recomend taking more than 4-6 of those per day, and if SWI OP is not tolerant 2 should be enough for a good experience lasting several hours. Basically, look up info about tylenol and see if SWIY or SWIyour friend should limit your consumption of APAP

Re: Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

Acetaminophen is toxic in large quantities. It deters oxycodone abuse by killing you. If you're lucky it just makes you violently sick. This is why there are the statistics of so many people dieing from prescription painkillers. As far as the effect, the stimulation that oxycodone gives will be so overpowering that the Acetaminophen won't even be noticed.

The rule is never exceed 4,000mg of Acetaminophen in one day. There may be other guidelines but I don't have many raver friends that are into opiates so I'll let another member with more knowledge be the authoritative voice on that front.

Re: Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

UTFSE! This has been covered a million times...
Acetaminophen is a non-narcotic painkiller which causes liver failure in high doses so they add it to the Oxycodone to prevent people from taking high doses. You shouldn't be taking more than 1500mg at a time (maximum) and no more than 4000mg in 24hours.
If you wish to do more than that then you should preform a Cold Water Extraction which extracts most of the acetaminophen from the Oxycodone, use the search engine.

Re: Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

to clarify, apap is not put in the pills to prevent abuse, it is put in the pills to make them more suitable for their prescribed purposes, usually daily or as needed relief of pain. it has a side effect of curbing abuse, and in the case of hydrocodone in the USA its presnece can play a roll in the scheduling status of the drug

Oxycodone is a relatively strong painkiller so it seems to me that adding paracetamol into the mix serves very little purpose from a pain killing point of view. I mean surely oxycodone is for people for whom paracetamol has little to no effect? Why not add a bunch of other random pain killers of varying strength while they're at it? This has never made much sense to me and I'd appreciate it if somebody could point out anything I'm missing.

P.S. OP: This is the wrong sub-forum to be posting this. Also, as RoboCodeine7610 pointed out, use the search engine before posting.

Re: Oxycodone/Acetaminophen

yea swim honestly doesnt buy the "synergy" bullshit. lol. he thinks percocets are th most common form of oxycodone he sees...prolly the most prescribed unless ur in BAD pain then its oxycontin. because percocet is prescribed so much the apap is added to discourage abuse of it and the excuse is the "synergy".yea the op was right. hey, u really wanna knock the pain on its ass? why not jsut add 5mg of hydro lol. swim personally doesnt get ANY form of pain relif from tylenol alone.
