USA - Need a little legal advice

Swim is in a pickle. Swim has 1 seatbelt ticket, 1 citation for theft, 1 for drunk driving, and possibly grand theft auto, and reckless driving.

So here's how it went down; swim was homeless due to, to make a long story short, his parents confiscating most of his money before he moved out. Due to underestimating how much it cost to support oneself, swim had to live paycheck to paycheck. Eventually swim lost his apartment, his car was impounded, owed the bank money, and had numerous other problems.
So, now swim was couch surfing. He still worked hard but had to bum off friends for lodging. So, he was at this house one night. His friend and his parents were out of town. Swim drank a little from the liquor cabinet, ran out of cigs, and decided to take the bmw out to get more. Well, swim left 1/2 an hour before the store opened, so swim decided to go cruising. Ended up hitting a slick spot on a narrow 2lane road, and crashed the bmw.
Jail was the only thing swim could think of, and how much he never wanted to go back again. So he decided to pull a suicide attempt so at least he'd be sent to the hospital instead of jail. After a week in the psych ward, he got shipped out of state for treatment. 30 days later, he's out, with no word from any authority about swim's legal charges. Swim has continued until a couple days ago, when swims friend whom he lived with for a while, got a notice that there is a warrent out for his arrest. Swim just got a new job, and needs to work, he has other fines to pay, as well as debts to others. Swim has only $257.00 to his name. WTF is he supposed to do? Go to jail knowing he might have some serious charges to look at? He needs money, to get that he needs to work, to do that he has to not be in jail.

What possible option could swim have?...
