Culture - Making a movie. Need help with on-screen "Cocaine"

Hi everyone. I have an online show and we are getting ready to film our
new movie. In the movie one of the characters finds bags of cocaine and
decides to see what it is (its a comedy and the character is dumb) and
i was wondering if anyone could help us out by leading us through the
process of making it look real. We will be using powdered milk. Once we
get a little out of the bag what should we do?

Well it's an online movie, it's not like the viewers are going to be able to examine it closely. Any white powder will suffice.

its a spoof of the show "24." If anyone watches it, you know the
main character jack bauer can do anything and he never makes a mistake.
We are spoofing it. You won't be able to see it closely. He is just
gonna pull it out of a trunk and snort a little. So after that scene he
will be high on it for the rest of the movie. How should he act after
that scene? Really energetic? Its only an hour long and this will take
place during the end of it, so he will be high for the whole last part
of the movie. I assure you guys i'm not trying to sell fake dope. I'm a
16 year old amateur filmmaker. www.thebosshoggshow.com is the site. You
can see that we are making this movie and not intending on selling it
to others as the real thing.

i suggest u use real coke, and that will make your movie much more authentic

Make him have conversations about almost anything at anytime and he
will be talking at 100mph. Once you're on coke, you can sit (well, most
people can't sit still so they will be up moving around) and just have
conversations about anything for hours. For instance, a friend of mine
talked to me for about 5 hours once on his lacrosse career throughout
high school. But yes, he will be energetic. Don't make him run around
looking like a crazy fool though. I think that's a big misconception
about cocaine users. People think that they will be so hyper that they
just can't control themselves and they will be bouncing off of walls.
No. He will be up moving at a faster pace than normal, but still able
to function properly for the most part. Some cocaine users also get
really paranoid when they are on it, such as looking around really fast
or thinking they heard something that wasn't really there. Good luck
with your film.

it's like riding high on coke.

Jonny Depp in "Blow" wasn't even half as good.

Well if this character is a regular user, than he wouldn't show any telltale signs of drug usage as coke is easy to mask. I guess just a little...not exactly twitchy...but sped up, I always jiggle my legs when I'm on it, maybe do something with my hands.

I do that with my legs too. Like if I'm sitting in a chair then i'll
bounce a leg up and down quickly or if i'm sitting on a high bed or
something then i'll just swing them back and forth. I'll find myself
twiddling my thumbs together sometimes also.

Honestly....props for trying to make a movie, it can take you places if
youre good. Since youre making a spoof i guess youre trying to be
pretty authentic and you saidyou dont want the real thing...so any
white powder works...have the dude roll up a bill and show the powder
and him with a bill, then when he is blowing it have the camera behind
him so you can see him bend over and "snort" it, but you dont have to
show anyone actually snort anything. to show the effects, after
he blows it show him being like "ahhh that hit the spot" and a little
bit more talkative/on/speeded up a bit, but not too muc. its hard
to dp without you actually knowing how coke makes you feel. good
