Zolpidem + modafinil = ?

Two of SWIM's favorite drugs are zolpidem (ambien) and modafinil (provigil). He likes taking modafinil to support 3 hour nights of sleep and rapid time zone changes when travelling, and zolpidem for sleeping on aircraft.

Now, zolpidem has some really crazy side effects if SWIM stays awake on it. The problem is, zolpidem does its job pretty quickly and SWIM falls asleep. This may sound like a ridiculous question to all of SWIYs, but could SWIM take modafinil with zolpidem to override the sleep?

Thanks.
