bupe can be evil
last week swim took a low (15mg) dose of hydrocodone. then yesterday he aquired a suboxone which he thought could be used recreationally by allowing 2mg (qaurter tab) to dissolve under his tounge which would not allow the naltrexone to be absorebed. well he got high....and dope sick at the same time.. in a 24 hour period swim vomited 13 times had a severe migrane no energy and every muschle hurt. swim is wondering what caused this horrid reaction? was it naltraxone beign absorebed? someoen told him the hydro he ate the week earlier could have contributed...any ideas???

Re: bupe can be evil
I don't think it was the naloxone in the suboxone but since bupe by itself is a partial agonist and not a full agonist and has a higher affinity for the opiates receptors, it basically replaces whatever is occupying the receptors with the bupe. When this happens, the opiate receptors won't be filled while the bupe is replacing whatever was occupying them and thus will make one feel in withdrawal. Not a 100% sure on this explaination but that's what Red Rock knows

Re: bupe can be evil
but swim isnt an opiate addict...so why did he react so violently to bupe? he thoguth the naltraxone in the suboxone preparation was the only explanation for his horris reaction/\.

Re: bupe can be evil
yea damn. swim IS an expirienced opiate user and didnt think 3mg was TOO much. dont jusdge him by his smal hydrocodne dosage haha. and he vomited 13 times and the effects the next day were very very bad. he continued to vomit and basically exhibited symptoms of withdrawl. swim does have a tolerance for opiates tho. w/e i guess there is really no definitive way to know. i mean swim wasnt even nodding THAT hard. hes nodding much more powerfully and not had any naseua. i guess naseua is highly dependant on the opiate in question. in that case would u say bupe is a very naseauting opiate?

Re: bupe can be evil
It can be....When Red Rock had it when he had no opiate tolerance before his heroin addiction, it caused basically the same effects that SWIY described just not as harsh. The long duration of bupe is what might have caused SWIY to be feeling like that the next day.

Re: bupe can be evil
never tried it but one of my buds experienced the same effects. another friend came back from college and had like 40 of the 16 mgs ( i think, what ever a large size dose is, copped them off an addict who went back to using) and used to snort them. he said that sublingal was just as good. first friend is kind of an idiot and did a whole one and said he felt great for like an hour then started to feel really shitty and spend the rest of the weekend and monday puking. So from one dose he was a peice of shit for 3 days. don't know if this is relevant.

Anything can be either a life-saver or pure evil depending upon how it is used.
bupe is used in Europe to treat pain in 0.2mg dosage units. It is a partial agonist meaning it doesn't cause all that much euphoria... However we have 8mg pills which contain 40 times the amount of narcotic of a pill that might be taken for pain in Europe. SWIM doesn't know for sure but heard that they are commonly abused in regions where they are used available in 0.2mg dosage units. SWIM hasn't entirely been convinced that buprenorphine has some magical affinity or that we are just being given HUGE doses of a weakly mu agonizing opiod sufficient to satisfy the average addict's receptors. People are commonly prescribed 16, 24, or even 32mg per day in the U.S. So if you can imagine people are using 0.2mg tablets recreationally, someone taking 32mg (or x4 8mg pills) is taking the equivalent of up to 160?!?!! buperenorphine pain pills. Even someone who has been taking this stuff for a long time will not enjoy withdrawl symptoms produced by coming off of 2mg daily doses. Over the past few years SWIM has started to question the manner in which buprenorphine has been used in since being rushed to the marketplace. SWIM has not formed a negative opinion of the drug, but merely began to "question" it's implementation. SWIM has decided to discontinue it's use after 3 years as she feels that it may not be healthy to have been on for this long. When she told her Dr. that she wanted off of it... His response was merely, "why?" almost as if he was puzzled at why SWIM would even consider it such a thing |

Re: bupe can be evil
Well the sublingual bioavailability is anywhere from 13-50% so at best SWItryptamaster got a 1mg dose of buprenorphine.
SWIM uses buprenorphine recreationaly & uses opiates twice a week. SWIM ussually doses at .5-1mg & did puke off of .5mg & hours later 1mg the 1st time they did bup. Buprenorphine is really strong stuff so nex time do a lower dose, cuz sounds like SWIy has a low opiate tolerance. If SWItryptamaster gets nauseas next time they could always grab sum ginger or some mary jane 2 |

Re: bupe can be evil
I have seen this first hand with people that are not opiate tollerant. A 2mg dose of suboxone taken by someone that does not have a high tollerance to opiates will make them extremely sick..... At first, they get a really nice euphoric feeling that is very short lived before the nausea sets in. From nausea it goes to flat out puking your guts out, sicker than I've ever seen anyone.. It lasted for 36 hours. Suboxone is a very different opiate and it VERY powerful... and should be taken with extreme caution.

*not really a post of any value*
Why would you count the times you have to vomit? |

Re: bupe can be evil
Swim has been on suboxone for 8 months. He was first taking 4 8mg tablets per day. Swim got headaches but they got worse. So swims doc switched him to subutex. Swim is down to 3 a day and swim puked about 11 times and felt weird like swims head was floating and dizzy. Swim also hates the taste so wants to know if swim could use it rectaly.

Re: bupe can be evil
Yes suboxone can be used rectally but more (probably close to 100%) is going to b absorbed into the blood stream (better bioavailability). So take less otherwise SWIy will continue puking their brains out.
FYI Bioavailability of buprenorphine: Oral: +- 20% Sublingual: +- 30% Intranasal: around 70% (only hundreds of veins in the nasal passage) Rectal: not positive, but 4 SWIM it's much stronger than intranasal so probably 90-100% (1000s of veins in ur ass) |
