1,4 Butanediol--Legal Status, Toxicity, and Other Information

i've found quite a bit of conflicting information about this substance. It seems that there is disagreement over what BDO actually *IS* and whether its are actually due to conversion to GHB by the liver (alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme)--or, does BDO cause effects similar to OTHER intoxicating/poisonous alcohols like ethylene glycol (antifreeze), which is more toxic than ethanol (booze)?

The configuration of BDO is basically LINEAR whereas GHB and GBL have more of a "triangle" or pentagonal structure...so, i believe this uncertainty & unusual structure make BDO a difficult case for inclusion under the 'analogue laws.'

Good information on this compound is limited.

Some sources state that BDO has not been adequately proven or established by way of scientific scrutiny or even "declaration" by a federal court if the human liver & first pass-metabolism is even capable of converting this linear molecule into the MORE complex ring-formation.

Does anyone know about the legal status of this chemical?

While we're here--Can someone give a statement regarding any potential Toxicity to the liver or any other organs...

Thanks
-DICK
