Dangers of crossing mescaline and hydrocodone.
SWIM has chronic pain, and thus is prescribed the maximum dose of hydrocodone (8 - 7.5/500 tabs per day) by his family physician. He is also interested in doing some personal research on the San Pedro cactus, but is concerned about the cross effects of the two. He believes that his liver is doing all it can to deal with the acetaminophen in the hydrocodone, and doesn't know if San Pedro will put additional strain on the liver, or cause other unanticipated problems. Does anyone have any information on the dangers of crossing these two substances?

Re: Dangers of crossing mescaline and hydrocodone.
I dont think mescaline (hallucinogen present in san pedro) is hepatoxic, so mescaline & hydrocodone alone will do no harm 2 SWIy's liver, but 4000mg acetaminophen a day is abusing the hell out of SWIy's liver. 4000mg per day is enough tylenol to severely damage the liver, even tho the recommended daily dose of tylenol is 4000mg. Acetaminophen itself is not toxic, but the metobolic process in the liver converts acetaminophen into NAPQ, which is extremely toxic to the liver & kidaneys.
SWIy should really ask SWIy's doctor to prescribe hycodan syrup (hydrocodone only) or any other non-acetaminophen hydrocodone preperation, or just do a CWE (cold water extraction) on the hydrocodone-APAP preperation. The hycodan syrup contains potentially carcinogenic innactive ingredients (methyl & propyl parabens) tho, but will probably not harm the liver as much as the 4000mg/day of acetaminophen, if at all + carcinogens are everywhere 2day. |
