Art - What is SWIY's art? Which drugs enhance SWIY's art?

SWIM has always reflected on his experiences with hallucinogens as one source of inspiration when writing and sketching. He is curious as to what drugs others find inspirational when crafting something worth appreciating.

Aside from hallucinogens, SWIM found cannabis and moderate alcohol consumption to also be helpful when composing a new work of art. Often, SWIM will make use of certain chemicals combined with experimental noise to bring about a frenzied state which SWIM loves writing in. SWIM loves the sound of machinery and the whine of electricity when working on something new.

So, what is SWIY's drug/drugs of choice when creating? What does SWIY create? Poetry? Music? Paintings? The list can be endless. Give an example. Swim is very fond of artwork made from what used to be living organisms...

Swims scanner is broken right now or else he would have some of his sketches posted. He likes to write/draw when he is baked or a little buzzed from some drinks.. Too much of either and he is no good because he ends up thinking too hard and just loses focus

SWIM paints and draws (all different kinds of mediums). Usually prefer to do artwork sober, although psychedelics make for some interesting pictures... SWIM finds that these drugs lower the normal desire for perfectionism and let more creativity come out.

SWIM doesn't really do much artwork after smoking marijuana or drinking... the motivation just isn't there. Never really tried on uppers, opiates, or dissociatives either.

Coincidentally, SWIM did upload a couple pictures here a long time ago (was testing how to use the image gallery or something).

I like the picture of the cat, his eye on the left seems to be melting, and his foot on the right side of the picture comes out of no where. I always think its interesting when there is extra bits of randomness in a drawing. It makes you wonder where the artist was coming from.

swim agrees, ideas and alternate ways of thinking often come whilst high, in which he writes these ideas down, often embellishing them when sober the next day, so he can still remember the trail of thought - his best work is most likely created while sober.

His inspirational drugs of choice have got to be:
- low(ish) doses of cannabis - allows swimself to relax and be one with his own thoughts, however the higher doses just masks his mind and makes him too lazy to want to create artwork.
- ketamine, allows the brain to follow a completley different path, though artwork is generally quite shit, ideas are developed following day.
- psychedelics, similar to ketamine.
- stimulates, great for ideas, and literature, though often get heavily sidetracked, so swim has found not always the best choice to enable him to complete his uni work.

another inspiration, which has already been noted is music, along with traveling, books, films, socialising, experiences, etc.

SWIM is a writer. Unfortunately he has had a bit of a block for a year or so and hasn't written much. He usually writes songs, poems, short stories, or just some random streams of consciousness. He misses it and really wants to get back into it. He has just been having a rough time finding things that inspire him now. This is mostly due to the fact that he doesn't get out much anymore. He knows it will come back to him eventually though.

As far as using drugs for inspiration and to charge up creativity, SWIM used to write some really good stuff on Amphetamines. The best would come after about 2-3 nights with no sleep and a little bit of booze in him. Meth and other Amphetamines were definitely being used when SWIM wrote some of his best pieces.

The unfortunate thing here, is that after getting so used to writing when SWIM was tweekin', it kind of ruined him. I say this because now if SWIM tries to write sober or just on opiates or something, he doesn't get hit with that huge wave of inspiration.
The Amphetamines spoiled him in the sense that he didn't really have to work to write. It was already flowing through his head and all he had to do was just keep writing. Without Amphs, SWIM actually has to go excavating in his head to find his thoughts and inspirations.

I'd also like to add that DXM has helped SWIM push the pen a time or two as well.

One could simply use their lack of getting out as inspiration. Surely swiyou have learned a lot about swiyourself in this time. Shitt.. I'd love to read a piece solely on cabin fever and the use of drugs. That'd be crazy..

Swim has the same problem in that he used to create amazing pieces of writing on amps but not so much now that he is off of them. writer's block is a bitch when you really want to get stuff done. He has told me that lately tramadol and kava, in separate occasions, have been working rather well lately.

Swim enjoys story telling in general as a hobby, but he recently landed a part time job writing reviews and articles, so it may actually get him somewhere in the future!

swim likes to smoke some headies (high-grade bud) and go take pictures of the smoky mountains. she's starting a new project soon, about which she's pretty excited: finding the most redneck/hillbilly scenes possible. on horseback. she's not kidding either--her dad lived out in the sticks and she goes horseback riding quite a bit. the area is historically a moonshine production (the moonshine capital of the world is cosby, an hour east) and it's pretty common to find old stills, bits of remaining railroad, etc out on the trails. to get back on topic, however, swim also likes to write when she smokes and has a glass or two of wine, but due to grad studies her writing time is limited and most of it is spent here


oh yeah, and swim also enjoys kratom particularly when writing.

SWIMs art of choice is music - SWIM had created many guitar songs (very trippy, with many effects and random soundscapes) while on drugs. Also, he paints much with different techniques.. and doing this while on drugs is really nice and thought-provoking.

I am a professional tie dyer and my raver friend keeps begging me to let him try to tie dye while tripping on something I have never let him because I know how much precision and concentration is necessary to create such intricate and beautiful patterns. I probably need a bit more practice and repetition. Also a good routine in my new apartment will allay my fears for letting my raver friend go crazy.

It will be interesting to see what comes of it whenever I unleash him ^_^.

Swim has generally had piss poor results while doing anything creative while on substances.......
He finds his best results are achieved sober,he enjoys the feeling of ideas that come from his racing mind,and pass through his hands.(if that makes any sense)
And because he is picking up a set of tattoo machines very soon,(it has been a dream of swims since childhood and he will never know until he tries) he doesn't think his victims would want to be tattooed by someone all screwed up.

SWIM has recently started playing bass, and has only tried so when on MDMA, this needless to say was increadibly expressive. The notes not only felt like they were travelling straight to the heart, but rather, as they were, coming from the heart. The flow SWIM had going on with his pearl white was incredible, he may have beat the strings a bit frantically while both fretting and picking (occasionally slapping), but got some interesting noises out of it that he would not have been able to discover sober.

Thankfully due to the nature of the drug, he was able to remember alot of what he did, so could imitate the day after, SWIM has developed these sounds, and would very much like to further them into a unified piece next time he finds himself available to do so.

Artwork too is a fun thing to do, especially on psychadelics! (given of course SWIY isnt too gone beyond, or an apparent masterpiece at the moment turns out to be a smiley face sticking its tongue out the next day (SWIM sweared it was one of the most epic things he had ever done!)). SWIM did however manage to find one of his older drawings (before his days as a musician) inspired the by the wonderous psilocybe semilanceata: [Flying Whale]

Normally i'll only paint when somewhat drunk, but i also find it effective to sketch on oxycontin. and before a deadline i'll stay up doing lines of coke to keep myself painting.

for some strange reason swim's creativity goes ballistic on codeine ... not smack , not oxy/hydro codone/morphone. but by far the greatest ever experience when it comes to creativity and art was with opium. nothing can touch it in swim's mind , forget the revelations on lsd and psychedelics ... opium is just something else ... Its hard to explain those "dreams" and the massive flow of ideas , composing songs in your head , hearing the best sound you can imagine ... it's just something else ... or at least thats what swim told me. Surprisingly taken right codeine does a nice job too ... . For swim is easier to get mst continus than codeine , but codeine at least for swim does the job better .Swim doesnt write ... he's more of a music man , classical music works like a charm ... adding instruments in your head changing the tempo , switching from D major for example to E flat major it's mindblowing ... at least for swim.

SWIM loves to write. He enjoys writing (and other forms of art) mostly on methamphetamine and dexamphetamine. He enjoys taking experiences from psychedelics/dissociatives to make into stories though. When it comes to drawing he still prefers stimulants, but psy/dis in low doses also make for great hands-on artwork.
