Questions about smoking heroin!!

Hi i have a friend who likes to smoke heroin but everytime he smokes theres black stuff on the foil from the lighter? and he was just wondering if there is anyway around that cuz it gets all over his hands and makes a mess where ever he is smoking. If anyone knows how to avoid the whole black shit on the foil i would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me how to be rid of it. thanks for your time
