Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober

SWIM has been doing drugs for a while now and one of his favorite things is Closed Eye Visuals they are so amazing.

Before SWIM did E for his first time he never experienced them and now every single time he smokes weed he can see them (the one and only time he did E it was only 1 tab).

SWIM was wondering if everyone who smokes weed experiences them or only a few of them.

Also now when SWIM lays in bed when he is sober he can see a blue shape (always the same indescribable shape) go across his vision.

He is wondering if his mind may be a bit screwed up or if he has just trained his mind to see closed eye visuals.

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober.

Swim lookded that up and found this - Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (flashbacks)

Flashbacks from what though?

SWIM has only ever done.

-Salvia
-Cactus
-Shrooms
-E (once)
-Weed

SWIM had a very intense mushroom trip a while back but has never heard of shrooms causing flashbacks. Also SWIM thought flashbacks show something SWIM has seen before but he is only experiencing Closed eye Visuals.

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober.

It isnt flashbacks, HPPD is more like you permanantly or temporarily see tracers & other hallucinations after using mild hallucinogenics (Cannabis) or other hallucinogens (mescaline cacti, shrooms, salvia)

If it is only CEVS, it's probably not HPPD or anything to worry about, enjoy it, SWIM experiences this too; although it's not very pronounced. I think every1 gets CEVs or at least mild CEVs when they close their eyes. SWIy's use of hallucinogens and mild hallucinogens probably just made it more noticable to SWIy.

Yea no problem. The human body produces DMT (dimethyltryptamine), a very potent hallucinogen, so this may have somthin 2 do with it. Jus spit-ballin here tho...

they are the fractal patterns that can appear when one rubs their eyes to hard(SWIM does not to be inebriated to see them) and humans have known about this phenomenon for quite a while now.

When SWIM presses his eyes to hard he sees a bunch of gears (like in a clock) spinning in circles.

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober.

SWIM can see them sometimes when sober. He has a hard time believing that it is an effect from his past drug use but rather more of focus thing. If he focuses hard on it and believes he will get visuals he usually does. I guess he basically just focuses to convince his mind he sees them and before long he does see them. Kinda like placebo maybe? Not sure though. I guess it could be from long term drug use. He never really given it much I guess. This is something he may have to play around with some more.

There are natural, background CEVs, then there are overstated psychedelic-caused CEVs.

I think this difference needs to be pointed out here.

Yeh, SWIM forgot to mention in his previous post that the CEV's he gets when sober are definitely nothing in comparison to the ones he gets with ....say DXM or LSD or what have you. But they are there. The sober ones are more or less just color formations. On psychedelic drugs SWIM gets stuff like an ice cream cone that melts down into a skull which begins to breathe fire that takes the shape of a unicorn that morphs into something else that morphs into something else and on and on and on. you get the point.

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober.

I wouldn't call it HPPD. Certain drugs unlock things in the mind that can be unlocked again by other things (e.g. smoking weed after doing MDMA).

If SWIY wants some serious CEVs, he definately needs to get himself some LSD...

SWIM is on the never ending quest for LSD. Does SWIY think if SWIM does LSD then afterward his CEV's from marijuana would become more intense.

Rhin: Seems likely, though it may take more then one session. Nobody has had good success doing such things, usually through body memory. Recognize how the phantasticant makes the system feel, and then while smoking try and make your self feel the same way, with luck, the other effects will come along. Using hypnosis may be advisable too.

This isn't really the sort of technique that can be laid out in words unfortunately.

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober.

Ever try staring at a single point. It's helpful to do it against a pattern. A vinyl floor works well. If you can hold your gaze at a very specific point, the rods and cones will become fatigued and you will start to see all kinds of things. Shapes, colors. I have had my vision go away completely for a short time, just seeing colors and shapes morphing against a black background. This is something I started doing as a child and have since experimented with it to great fun =)

SWIM was the same way as a child, and practiced this before SWIM was even aware of mind atering substances. SWIM also made a point to practice other such things such as Lucid dreaming as a child. Even as a small child I was aware that my mind was capable many amazing things.

You know, go read books by Yogi Ramachakara, Science of Breath is his best. They aren't exactly what you want, but they will be an excellent groundwork for building on. Golden Dawn and Thelemic rituals can also be useful.

Swim has been trying to train his mind/eye to see CEV's when sober, and finds that putting a bright light in front of his eyes and waving his hand back and forth in front of his eyes really helps. alternating the frequency of hand waving and distance of hand to eye creates interesting effects.

Gotta check this out:

http://naturalhallucinogen.com/index.htm

Watch the video (stare at the center), it stays on for quite awhile, but the longer you can hold your focus on it, the better it will work. Then look away. Made me a little nauseous though, so be prepared.
Very intense visual distortions.

Yeah if you close your eyes and then put pressure on your eye lids you will see all sorts of crazy fractals and landscapes... I used to do that for hours as a kid. I did it so long that I actually had certain places I could go which would always be there.

... probably should have been alittle more social at that age...

Re: Training the Mind to see CEV's while sober

Sorry SWIM has been away for a while but he has been training and one of his good friends brought up this topic with him. SWIM told his friend he closed his eyes and thought he was a car and got hit by a car and SWIMS friend said he can close his eyes and see himself jumping on a trampoline but then the trampoline gets stuck.

2 nights ago SWIM smoked a few bowls out of a new bongs and closed his eyes while in bed and focused very hard and at 1 point his mind saw people and then SWIM realized this and saw a perfect scene from SWIMS everyday life he actually saw a group of people and a forest on a trail in full detail just like real life.

SWIM then thought it was cool that he could see people while just smoking marijuana so he started focusing on seeing people and only did it once after, he saw a black kid eating fruit loops and his lips started floating away.

Swim has been trying (with a little success) to get a landscape type of visual that he first experienced on DXM years ago. It's more of a projection, like seeing depth with eyes closed. Swim has noticed that small doses of combined OTCs and supplements can help. Swim will attempt to spend some more time examining this and will try to report what kinds of OTCs help.

SWIM has only seen a full visual with people and trees and ground taking up his whole line of sight with his eyes closed once from Marijuana but he has just recently taken an interest in DXM so he is going to be experimenting to see what he can do with his mind.

Closed eye visuals rock.
Y had them before he did drugs, he thinks, as they felt familiar to him when high.
Y is very susceptible to them, - weeds visuals are lush.
Through psychedelics Y learnt all about sacred geometry, and the mathematics of nature.
This wasn't an interest of Y, nor was he mathematically or scientifically talented, but psychedelics always seemed to have something mathematical to impart to him.
Patterns was one way.
