SWIM has ?s about Clonazepam dependance

I had to go to the doc's 2 da. SWIM hasn't been able to sleep for 4 days now and has no idea why. I cannot live and function in my daily life with no sleep. Doc gave SWIM clonazepam 1mg every 12 hours or as needed #60 tabs. SWIM has been off done for 5 weeks now and wd's are over, but doc says he thinks the 9 months being on it SWIM may have some lingering effects from the detox. SWIM takes CRUMBS of suboxone every few days as he feels it necessary. But is going completely off very soon. Anyway SWIM has read HORROR stories of benzo wd's and how they are even worse than opiate wd's. SWIM is scared sheetliss of becoming trapped in something like this. AnySWIYs have reccomendations on kpin?

Re: SWIM has ?s about Klonipin dependance

Swim uses clonazepam too, and for a while now. He takes it sporadically (1 out of every 2 nights, on average, .5mg to 1mg), and has not experience either tolerance nor symptoms of habit formation or withdrawal.

After reminding you that Swims comments are not those of a doctor who is adequately treating Swiys problems, he recommends benzodiazepine dependant patients not to stop the "chronic" intake of clonazepam, or any benzodiazepine, and to gradually tamper down the doses, regardless of the new dose effects (probably none) to your ongoing symptoms. (If your body had to adapt to the intake of a foreign substance for 9 months, it doesn't take rocket science to suspect that your body needs a similar amount of time to readapt back to normal, using a similar but inverted chronological dose schedule).

A friend of Swim had a similar problem to that of Swiy and after his experience, he came to the conclusion that no pill will fix his sleep problem, only either help when sporadically used, that is, not when he feels like it, but only when he really needs to, or they probably become a bigger problem.

Swim suggests Swiy to first not to personally associate what he reads about benzo withdrawal to his particular experience. Most things can become addictive, and addiction is not very well understood yet. Most of what you read are personal opinions based on other opinions. So just figure out yours. Swiy physical withdrawal period should by now be over so whatever affects him, if related to clonazepam, could just as well have been triggered by the intake of anything that sparks the brains reward-seeking behavior.

Swiy, its hard, SWIM knows, but just accept that things might suck a bit more than usual for a while because they where a bit better for longer than they should have, and just think that every tick of the clock puts you a second farther away from that time when you took whichever substance it was that landed you in this situation, reading Swims opinion.

Good luck and take care.

Re: SWIM has ?s about Clonazepam dependance

Interesting, I agree I would try to use something only as I experienced a problem. And 4 days of extreme insomnia is too much to bear or live with. SWIM got 12 hours of great sleep, much needed of course. And don't feel any after effects ie. no "medicine head" as he usually does when taking Diphenhydramine or god forbid DXM. SWIM has had moderate sleep issues for quite a few years now and ma-b getting clean has accentuated this a little. Just speculating of course..

Re: SWIM has ?s about Clonazepam dependance

Do what Swim does: Take ONLY as needed or special, planned out recreational times that are spaced out and not common.

The WD's, from my understanding, have at least potential to be worse. They are can be/are dangerous, much more so than opioids. Seizures and all that jazz.

All long as Swiy is not eating Kpin's every day, Swiy will be fine. Swim personally would say 2-3 times weekly, MAX, but that does not always meet everyone's needs.

Swim feels the same. Every day no. But is deff good it's there if SWIM can't sleep for 4 days. SWIM took a few yesterday and 2 2-da but will not take again unless insomnia sets in again.
