Methadone system! F***ed up!

Does this make sense to any1?

Here goes.. Basically swim lives in Ireland &on a methadone program for 2 yr now. When 1st started got clean for 4mts or so but since then has been using on/off & has missed more days than actually turned up for clinic. However has managed to get life somewhat in order in last 2 mts and hasn't missed a day & is only using about once a week. Seeing as this is much better than worrying about a fix every day but it obviously isn't going to get me spanking clean and swim dont fancy ending up like others that on meth for 20yrs+ going around in the same rings for that time, swim want to try something else.

Thats where the problem is. As methadone obviously isn't working for her swim want to give rehab a try to see if swim can be brainwashed to fill the hole that only a bag of gear & a needle seem to fill, so asked clinic to refer for a detox so can do a rehab programme as u have to b clean to do rehab but they've said you have to be totally clean(no benso's,no nothing, only meth) giving clean samples for a few mts straight b4 it'll even b considered, but yet any1 just using H can apply to do detox no prob. Does swim take a chance of coming off clinic & getting an addiction worker to refer her & risk at the assesment that it wont b looked at that she already turned down 1 help(u can b sure it'll b looked at negatively) and put her to the end of the waiting list which will surely take 2-3yr or more, as theres only 20 detox beds here & minimal waiting is about 5-6 mts swim dont think switching to H is an option for swim. Swim dont fancy withdrawing by self as dont cope to well with w/d's. But isn't the system here f***ed up. Does any1 know if suboxone is available here, never even heard of it until read it on this few days ago.

Sounds like U really need to find some subs.. SWIM took done for 9 mths and hate that shit, fucks up your body, some say it's even worse than H. Ireland is foreign 2 SWIM but there has to be a way you can find subs there. If SWIY is as motivated as he is scoring bags trying to find subs he will succeed. Methadone systems are set up and regulated by the government to get "substitute substances" legally. Second and most importantly they are there to make money off us suckers, they look at SWIM/SWIY as just numbers on their bottom line. Fuckin legit poison peddlers.lol
oh yea swim kicked done and it was a horrible bitch! she dug in and didn't give up without ringing SWIMs bell a few times. I take 1mg or less even to .5 and lower. It's amazing stuff really. A tiny crumb from a pill will stop wd dead in its tracks. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TAKE YOUR 1ST DOSE UNTIL YOU ARE IN FULL WD FROM H. Swim did and put him into HARD convulsive WD for hours on end. It will "precipitate" WD instantly if H is still floating around. Or see what you are made of but you better have balls of steel if you dare take it too soon.

Thing is though depending on how much methadone you are on Subutex/Subuxone sometimes isn't enough to stop the withdrawals as it is a weaker opiate. It binds on to SWIY receptors and there is no way of breaking through that bind with other opiates. therefore SWIY have to take the withdrawal.

SUBS are not a "weaker" opiate. Bupe is actually much more potent than morphine by 5-6x, is what swiys doc told him. It does however have a much higher affinity for the receptors the full agonist opiates have. Speculating of course.. the withdrawl comes from the replacement of the full agonist molecules with partial agonist/antagonist

Buprenorphine (Subutex) is not weaker but it does have a ceiling affect, meaning if the dose of methadone is too high it will not be possible to put SWIY on a high enough dose of Subies to prevent withdrawal. They usually like to get you down to 30ml of methadone to do the change over. If SWIY is motivated enough it's quite painless to drop 5ml per week.

Lisa is completely correct. but 30mg not 30ml. They will not switch you till your dose is down low enough. SWIM went from 100mg m-done right to subs and suffered IMMENSELY for a spell while the done levels worked themselves down to a point the subs were able to stabilize SWIM.

In the UK & Ireland methadone mixture is usually 1mg per 1ml, 30ml = 30mgs.

Ahhhh here its 10mg per 1ml. A much more potent mixture.. What color is your done in liquid form? Here it's a vile reddish pink. I hear in the UK some sort of green.
