Using heroin to come off methadone

Hi all my friends cat is in the process of replacing his methadone addiction with heroin... he's been on a meth script for 8 years this time round and has kicked once before... got down to 10ml from 50ml rapidly (about a month) with the help of valium then stopped cold... if only he'd known He managed to kick though but only down to the special circumstances he was in (on a new age travellers site, surrounded by a community of about 50 people who knew and supported what he was trying to do) it took about a month at least before sleep came natural so he's going to give it 2 months on heroin, then taper down for a week then cold turkey, but with a ton of valium and anything else that can sedate for a week, his girlfriend will be there help ... once more into the breach and all that
He did think of trying to go private and get some kind of morphine pills (mst's is it?) which would be more precise, but sod it, he's started now so we'll see.
Can I just say how bloody ridiculas it is that this is what he has to do to be free of methadone, he mentioned his private doctor plan to his drugs worker and she wouldn't even consider the idea, touting methadone all the way
He's really interested in ibogaine, and is considering trying to get in touch with that wonderful woman in holland who helps people with their withdrawl?
Anyway, enough blathering, it's good to have somewhere to blather.

okay, i just replied to your post in another thread, but reading this has me a little confused, swim would think, that swiy is trying to switch out methadone for heroin, so that the w.d. time is shorter...correct? has swiy ever thought of going to suboxone instead of h? or even better, going from meth, to h, to suboxone...this would be much quicker, and have less risk of just going down the trainline of heroin abuse. because right now, swiy is maintaining on methadone...not really getting high, but swiy is going to taper down on the meth, and then jump on the heroin wagon, which leaves you way open to the whole reason you got on methadone in the first place ::take it first hand, swim has jumped on that wagon and not gotten off when he planned:: that said, although swiy could take about 2 weeks on the heroin just to make sure there is no big jump in w.d.'s from the suboxone jump..and spend about a week and a half to two weeks on heroin, giving swiy enough time to find a suboxone doctor and get swiyourself on a maintence plan, and then actually use the suboxone to get rid of the w.d.'s, and after about a month on suboxone, then use the benzos for whatever sleep disorders swiy will be having/anxiety/depression/hell that is getting off opiates...just a suggestion, give it some thought and reply back, i would be glad to help you on your way.

Have to agree here to an extent swim is on methadone and is planning the same route meth wd is long and hard, swim is going to switch to herion use for a month to six weeks maybe slightly longer as methadone stays in the fat deposits for a long time and takes a long time to leave the system, then reduce down on herion to switch to subtex, swim will benzos for anxiety and the gaba or gbl/gbh for sleep.

Gaba is still legal in the uk in body building food outlets, needs to be taken on empty stomach for effect but will knock you out, gbl/ghb is illegal but can be gotten and will knock you out is cheap and slightly addictive but helps with sleep patern when suffering wd.

Best of luck.. swim would not recomend using meth to sub route as heard nothing but pain from that route.

First off I need to state that everything I say here is not true I'm a nutter who likes to make storys,

right then that said and done thanks for the replies teddy and ben, it's good to know peeps are reading what I blather on here...and what you've written sounds like very good advice,
after much reading on this site I've decided to go the rapid subutex route in 2 months time, by then all the methadone should be pretty much out of my system (crosses fingers) and I can taper down on the heroin (at the moment I'm doing about 0.3 a day, about a bag and a half, 30 quids worth)
see, I've not known much about subutex, the last time I got clean was 10 years back and the time before that was a good 15 years so I've never factored it into my cluck before, just valium and vitamins ... but after doing alot of research this time round it sounds like a bloody wonder drug.... I valued the agony I went through on previous withdrawls as it really feels like I've beaten something you know? but obviously I'd like a less painfull way out of this mess this time around and subs sound great....
I'm really looking forward to going into my drug councellers office for my tri-monthly meeting and swab and saying 'cheers for the offer but I think I'll pass this time as I don't need that green poison anymore

my first post on this site ,here goes...
my mate is a long term meth user(maintenance script 8 yrs) and due to various happenings in their life has decided to cut the juice dramatically from 70 ml daily down to 25 ml (probably take him 6 months ,but he has a little time) he will cut the dose 5ml at a time every few weeks ,a healthy diet and lifestyle will help .he also uses weed /hash to help with stress, is this ok to do? upon reaching 25 ml he is unsure of which way to go, does he use heroin to ease withdrawals from juice for 2 weeks before going on suboxone or drop down further than 25 ml before this process starts. how long does it take for meth to leave the body enough for it to be ok for it to use subbys, he really needs advice as his case worker cannot adequately advise him it is felt. any help or opinions would be helpful ,plus anyone who has done similar ,their experience would be invaluable , feel free to pm me if you want. thanks for reading !!!
